Revenge is a dish best served cold say the Klingons. So is it mere coincidence that the same week Katie Couric starts her new job as co-host of ABC′s ′Good Morning America′ that Sarah Palin will be a guest co-host on NBC′s ′The Today Show′, Katie′s old haunt? Yes, on Tuesday the ′Kat Fight′ begins as Sarah Palin declares ′Game On!′ to spoil Couric′s drive to recover her former fame and glory. Many attribute Palin′s demise as a Vice Presidential candidate in 2008 to an interview she did with Couric. But will the tactic work? Or will Palin face another Klingon proverb, ″tugh qoH nachDaj je chevlu ta!″ A fool and his head are soon separated!
Whether or not the timing of the appearances were planned is debatable. But the rivalry between GMA and Today is a long one and well known. Back when Katie Couric was on Today, Diane Sawyer joined GMA specifically with one objective in mind, to knock Couirc off the top of the pyramid. The animosity between these two women runs deep and sharp. Sawyer eventually won the fight, as GMA reached ratings levels that surpassed The Today Show. Not long after which, Couric left to become the anchor on CBS Evening News.
Couric bombed at CBS. Her ratings plunged lower than her neckline. Last year, CBS had enough and fired her. Of course, Katie claims that she left to ′pursue other opportunities′, celebrity-code talk for ′my career is in the gutter!′ The perky one rambled about here and there, but it was obvious that her only ′talent′ was to do fluff pieces on a morning TV show.
So on Tuesday, we will have a one-day battle royale as Sarah Palin co-hosts The Today Show while Katie Couric continues her first week on Good Morning America. Both shows have been losing audience shares as the cable TV programs like Fox & Friends and the Don Imus Show dominate morning TV news shows. Palin′s one-day stint may be just a prelude for bigger things down the road. A year or two rebuilding her popularity could help launch a presidential run in 2016. For Katie Couric, she is on the last leg career-wise before doing dinner theater at The Villages in Florida. She may want to consider another favorite Klingon proverb of mine, ″meQtaHbogh qachDaq Suv qoH neH!″ Only a fool fights in a burning house!

The Perky One. LOL!!!
Nobody who considers themself a serious journalist would want that moniker attached to them. It’s subtly demeaning and says this person is not to be taken seriously, yet it’s not enough to make an issue out of.
Rush knew exactly what he was doing when he tagged her with it. He neutralized her with three simple words. How could “The Perky One” possibly be considered a serious news anchor?

Fox and Friends.
That’s a genuine MENSA meeting.
Weatherman who likes to call the enemies the “bad guys”.
A washed up beauty contestant and the little guy on the right who doesn’t let his lack of knowledge stop him from commenting.
You guys like to make fun of Morning Joe, a show that is hosted by a former Congressman (or turncoat to you) and is consistently populated by Peabody and Pulitzer Prize winners and former Cabinet members.
Of course, I did see a squirrel on skis on Fox and Friends.
It is like A.M. Omaha, only on a national cable network.
I know, it gets great ratings. That is what truly scares me.

Hah, Buzzbee!
Mika sure raises the IQ level at Morning Schmoe. That half-wit would be nowhere without Daddy helping her. Sounds a bit like Chelsea, doesn’t it? Another journ-o-list from the NBC universe of idiots.
April 2nd, 2012 at 6:21 am
Yes, FM,
The Perky One is well past her prime. I actually watched the first few minutes of GMA to see the little skit of Katie waking up, suddenly remembering that she has a job to go to again. The thing that appalled me the most that both she and I have the same giant Smiley Face coffee mug. I will toss my out after seeing that.

I’ve never been much of a Couric fan and always thought her much better suited to morning fluff than to serious journalism. Her foray into nightly news did not go well. Yet it hardly speaks volumes for Sarah Palin that “The Perky One” was able to inflict such damage with basically softball questions. Imagine what a real journalist could have done?
April 2nd, 2012 at 6:39 am
Morning Joe? Don’t they belong to the same company currently doing an internal investigation for “selective editing?”
They’ve redefined the term “Making the news.”
April 2nd, 2012 at 7:30 am
Doesn’t Fox belong to a company that hacked into the voicemail of a dead 13 year old girl?
They even took the liberty of clearing messages to make room for more.
Kinda pales in comparison doesn’t it?
April 2nd, 2012 at 7:34 am
I asked me 5 year old niece what she has been reading.
She provided an answer in minutes.
Just as every one of you would do within seconds.
But of course that was an unfair question.
Now that’s scary. Could have been a heartbeat away.
Did you read today’s briefs? No, but it’s okay, I looked at the pictures.
Couric and Palin.
A real battle of the titans.
By the way, if Mika took a long drive and never came back the show would be infinitely better.

Didn’t that happen in a different country for an entirely different news service?
You’re grasping at straws Buzz.
April 2nd, 2012 at 7:40 am
I also believe Murdoch shut those news services down while NBC is doubling down.
April 2nd, 2012 at 7:55 am
Didn’t CuppaJoe have a dead girl in his Florida congressional office?
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:12 am
Didn’t CuppaJoe have a dead girl in his Florida congressional office?
Wasn’t he out of the state at the time?
I’m grasping at straws?
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:18 am
“I’m grasping at straws?”
Well, let’s look at this. Cuppa Joe had a dead woman in his office but he was out of town at the time and that’s okay. Hmmm!!
A couple of tabloids in England owned by Murdoch broke the law or at least showed a lack of ethics. He shut them down. They were not affiliated with FNC.
Yes Buzz, you’re grasping at straws.
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:20 am
“Didn’t that happen in a different country for an entirely different news service?”
All owned by Rupert. The incident with the 13 year old was just one of many.
But, as I mentioned a few days ago, the majority of the people on this site rushed to his defense in this matter.
That surprised me. It was the usual rhetoric that he was being “attacked”. (Right wing code for criticism).
Anyone here have a daughter?
What are the attributes that merit your support for this guy? Exactly what has he done that elicits such loyalty?
The fact that he saw an opportunity in the news media and exploited it for capital gain?
You really think this Australian is doing this for the “right” reasons?
Hey, you might disagree with the politics or opinions of television personalities, but the egregious behavior they displayed was a horse of a different color.
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:42 am
“What are the attributes that merit your support for this guy?”
First, he owns news services throughout the world and can’t be expected to know what’s goingon at each one. Especially if it’s covert.
Second, he went over there and addressed the problem.
Now let’s go to NBC. Have you ever heard of Tawana Brawley? How about Crown Heights? The Duke lacrosse scandal? Al Sharpton was in the middle of all of them and wrong every time.
And they hired him!!!
April 2nd, 2012 at 8:45 am
“The fact that he saw an opportunity in the news media and exploited it for capital gain?”
Buzz?
Are you talking about BHO and Fluke-gate?
April 2nd, 2012 at 9:00 am
“The fact that he saw an opportunity in the news media and exploited it for capital gain?”
Or Trayvon Martin???
April 2nd, 2012 at 9:35 am
Addressed the problem?
Yeah, after he was dragged, along with his child bride, in front of the British courts.
Yeah, yeah, I know, she is with him because he is fascinating and dashing.
I am not sure who is scarier, him or her. Perhaps her, because she has some (a lot) of years on him.
And again, what are the attributes that demand your support? He owns news organizations?
So did Ted Turner.
April 2nd, 2012 at 9:38 am
“The fact that he saw an opportunity in the news media and exploited it for capital gain?”
Or Trayvon Martin???”
You lost me there.
Of course, I am waiting for the “he had it coming” statements.
Why?
Well, he was not properly dressed.
My suggestion to young black men. If you are going to another neighborhood, wear a suit and don’t put your hands in your pockets.
Oh, and you might consider giving up that candy habit.
April 2nd, 2012 at 9:59 am
“My suggestion to young black men. If you are going to another neighborhood, wear a suit and don’t put your hands in your pockets.”
You forgot – …and don’t physically attack neighborhood watch captains with a 9mm in their pocket.

“Yeah, after he was dragged, along with his child bride, in front of the British courts.

Personal attacks now Buzz? I understand how hard it is to defend the likes of Matthews, Schultz, Olberman, Maddow, and Sharpton. Quit trying. You’ll turn yourself into a pretzel.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:38 am
Sure ways of getting page views.
Sarah. Still a polarizing figure because…um, because…, oh, I give up.
Michelle Obama. Perhaps not elsewhere, but strangely, on this site, she elicits more vitriol than her husband. You know, the guy who actually holds office.
Beck. Oh, never mind, it seems that ship has sailed and crashed into the shallow waters from whence it came.
Rush. I don’t think he really takes himself seriously, but it is serious business here.
Santorum. A few minutes left before the 15 minute mark elapses. Perhaps a career in television (or televangelism) is imminent.
Romney. Well, no, even as the probable candidate for President he doesn’t get any attention (from either side and that is dangerous for his fortunes).
Anyone from Hollywood or someone that has been poisoned at a Northeastern university (especially those bastions of socialism in the Ivy League). Darn elitists.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:40 am
“You forgot – …and don’t physically attack neighborhood watch captains with a 9mm in their pocket.”..under penalty of death.
The physically attack neighborhood watch captains (is that an actual rank, watch captain? Does it come with a hat?) is still in some doubt.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:41 am
The 53 year-old Alec Baldwin just announced his engagement to a 28 year-old yoga instructor.
New tack Buzz?

Only in your mind Buzz!!
