New studies are proving that the death penalty saves lives. All of the studies agree, which one would never know reading the headline in the New York Times. It poses what has become a scientific answer in the form of a question: “Death Penalty Saves Lives? A New Debate.”

The article then goes on to say a dozen recent studies all agree that the death penalty deters murders. The “debate” is apparently a creation of the Times. Several skeptics are quoted in the Times who have not studied the question at all. Liberals will say or do anything to avoid facts.

Okay, so the death penalty is a deterrent to murder. saving between 3 and 18 murders according to these studies. That does not necessarily make it right, but it does provide a reasonable moral argument for those who support it.
