I’m not making this up! I have been accused of invading Maryland, “Farm Girl From Ohio Invades Maryland with Midwestern Ideals!” BUT this is REALLY serious. It seems that the local crayfish can’t compete with the larger more aggressive crayfish from Ohio (we called ‘em ‘crawdads.”) This isn’t the first time that Marylanders have had a hard time dealing with invasions from Ohio. They don’t like our more conservative political bent and they don’t like our crawdad either (little known fact: my Girl Scout camp name was “CRAWDAD“) The Baltimore Sun Story is here and discusses other invasive species, such as the Frankenfish (aka Snakehead) from China (is there a pattern here? MBT from Ohio, her husband from China????)
Next thing I know, DNR will be knocking on our door and asking us to leave, as we are contaminating the local liberal fauna of the state. If we don’t leave, will they rotenone our house?
Seriously though, this problem seems to have been caused by fisherpeople releasing their bait into local waters. Even releasing worms and minnows are a serious problem. So if you fish, do so responsibly – we don’t want our cherished waterways getting taking over by FRANKENFISH! (Chinese solution to these problems: create a food market for them and the invasive species will be wiped our in a few years by over harvesting them! Snakeheads are evidently tasty fish!)

Global warming has gotta have something to do with this! I am curious as to why these biologists automatically blame fishermen. Could it be possible that these critters somehow found a way to Maryland from Ohio without the help of man? Oh, I forgot, in this Blue state, nature is always good and anything unusual in the natural world is a result of man.
Nature always finds a way. Perhaps snakeheads will eat these crawdads? Better yet, Maryland Gumbo featuring Ohio jumbo crawfish.

KungPow – perhaps my husband can come up with a Chinese Ohio/Maryland frankenfishcrawdad gumbo! HOw’s that for “multiculturalism” here at RightPundits?

Frankenfish crawdad gumbo sounds Mighty Tasty! Truly an Asian Fusion dish. “Multiculturalism” that even former governor Bob Ehrlich would like.
Okay McCain, I’m waiting for the “something fishy” comments.
