It’s a good question, isn’t it? On a whole host of questions, too, not just the one that former VP Dick Cheney was referring to on CNN.
On CNN, Cheney was talking about the Predator Drone attack that last week killed al Qaeda mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki and his cohort Samir Khan. Cheney reminded the CNN audience that Obama slammed the Bush administration for “overreacting to 9/11.” And Cheney thought that Obama owed the whole country an apology for his characterization.
“I think it was a very good strike. I think it was justified,” Cheney told CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union.” But “I’m waiting for the administration to go back and correct something they said two years ago when they criticized us for ‘overreacting’ to the events of 9/11.”
Obama “in effect said that we had walked away from (America’s) ideals,” Cheney argued. “I think he did tremendous damage. I think he slandered the nation and I think he owes an apology to the American people.”
The Obama administration has “clearly … moved in the direction of taking robust action when they feel it is justified,” Cheney said.
Yet…, and yet, Obama has pretty much continued every Bush era covert military program. He’s not closed the Guantanamo Bay Cuba detainment facility, he’s largely stepped up the Predator Drone program, he’s continued that secret holding facilities of the CIA, he’s stepped up the Special Ops programs… in short, despite all his claims that Bush and the GOP were eeeevil for their mistreatment of those, poor, poor Muslims, he’s not done much to change said treatment. In fact, he’s increased it.
So, where is the acknowledgement that his silly, over-the-top rhetoric of the 2007/2008 campaign trail was not only wrong but misguided, even dangerous to the safety of the country?
I mean, Obama apologies were good enough to be generously ladled out to the rest of the world, weren’t they? Where’s Obama’s now long overdue apologies to America for his sniveling in front of our enemies? Where’s his apologies for lying through his teeth as a candidate that once in office he’d discontinue every Bush era homeland security plan?
Further, where’s his apologies for destroying our jobs? Where’s his apologies for bankrupting the country? Where’s his apologies for creating an un-American super state that has dictatorial powers?
I sure hope he’s sorry for losing office in 2012, at least.

Dick Cheney is correct. Obama should stop apologizing to the world and start seeking penance from us Americans. He should start by apologizing to George W. Bush and his administration. Everything Obama said in 2007 and 2008 during the election was false and even then once he got into office, Obama stuck with much of the Bush agenda in regards to the War on Terror.

Obama said very clearly during his campaign for the presidency that he would make it a priority and go anywhere to go after high-value terrorist targets. Look it up. Bush said just the opposite. Bush said the War on Terror was bigger than any individuals; he said very clearly that the capture of Osama Bin Laden or any other specific terrorist was no longer a priority. The reason for this is that Osama Bin Laden’s family is Bush family friends. Obama, even though he be a Muslim hisself, don’t care about the Bin Ladens. He ain’t ever had them over for tea, or anything like that.

Actually, the statement that the Bush Administration was “overreacting” referred to the invasion of a country that had nothing whatsoever to do with September 11. And of course we all know that President Obama has never apologized to other countries… but I know it somehow makes you feel all righteous to say it over and over.

Shouldn’t Bush apologize to the American people first, and then Obama?

Shouldn’t he apologize for what?

“And of course we all know that President Obama has never apologized to other countries… but I know it somehow makes you feel all righteous to say it over and over.”
Yeah, technically speaking he never apologized but when you let the Muslim brotherhood sit up front in your middle eastern apology speech you might as well french kiss em on the ass.
Any idiot knows the spineless wretch was making amends for what he believed was poor behavior on Americas part and only righteous when he employs the same tactics.
Of course he should apologize, hes utilizing to his advantage every Bush policy he bashed while on his campaign trail. And were seeing the same thing begin to happen on our economics also as hes starting to apply conservative policies there as well
Policies that today are doing nothing but helping him, and the American people if I might say so.
