Death from the skies seems to be Obama’s biggest foreign policy achievement. Since becoming president, Obama has greatly stepped up the use of predator drones and other military ops to kill top al Qaeda officials. He’s killed dozens of them — along with much “collateral damage” in bystanders — with his drone strikes that have taken out nearly the entire top tier of al Qaeda’s and even some of the Taliban’s leadership. But there is a vexing question about this successful campaign to assassinate these terrorists: the anti-war left is wholly silent about it all.
With today’s news of the end to two top al Qaeda operatives, Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, ABC News published a list of those terrorists Obama has gacked with his death from the skies campaign. These senior al Qaeda officials tally to some 20 terrorists killed. Most have been with predator drone strikes.
The List
- Osama bin Laden
- Anwar al-Awlaki
- Abu Hafs al-Shahri
- ‘Atiyah ‘Abd al-Rahman
- Ilyas Kashmiri
- Ammar al-Wa’ili
- Abu Ali al-Harithi
- Ali Saleh Farhan
- Harun Fazul
- Younis al-Mauritani
- Baitullah Mahsud
- Jemayah Islamiya
- Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan
- Saleh al-Somali
- ‘Abdallah Sa’id
- Abdul Ghani Beradar
- Muhammad Haqqani
- Qari Zafar
- Hussein al-Yemeni
- Jemayah Islamiya
- Abu Ayyub al-Masri
- Abu Omar al-Baghdadi
- Sheik Saeed al-Masri
- Hamza al-Jawfi
To that I’ll add al Qaeda’s Internet maven, Samir Khan who was also killed today.
Naturally, I have no problem with this business at all. I applaud Obama’s use of military intelligence, foreign contacts, and predator drones to eliminate members of al Qaeda and the Taliban.
But this is precisely the sort of stuff that the anti-war left complained about when Bush started the predator drone program. He was called an assassin back then with his use of predator drones. The left just added that charge to the many absurd charges that Bush was an “imperial” president, the next Hitler, and said it proved he was out of control.
So where have all these people been since Obama came to office? Obama has increased this program many fold and far surpassed the kill list Bush amassed.
The fact is that most of the supposed anti-war activists in the U.S. were not much interested in stopping war. They were only interested in toppling George W. Bush from the presidency. War did not interest them. Killing is immaterial to their desire to attack American conservatives. Their sole purpose was political, not moral.
Yes, I just called anti-war protesters liars.

The “Anti-War” group is mostly against exactly that, war.
While there was a very small vocal group that was against drone attacks, that was mostly an extension of an opposition to the Iraq War.
Most people are simply ambivalent to drone attacks now, simply because they have more pressing problems, like paying the rent.
Being emotionally invested in international affairs is a luxury that most people can no longer afford.
I doubt that most people that voted for Obama would have guessed we would still be in Iraq and Afghanistan at this point in his term.
He has acted very “Republican” in those affairs.

Ron Paul was on Cavuto this afternoon complaining about how the government is assassinating U.S. citizens (al-Awlaki).

If you don’t get to smoke the bad guys with our high tech toys, who would want to be the president?

W. Bush would have killed them in his administration, but his leadership was just too incompetent to help find ‘em.

They’re at your mom’s house.
Seriously, though, Warner…

Let us say that Warner is correct (though he isn’t–there have been many war protests during Obama’s administration; also, consider history, for example, President Johnson, who was a Democrat, and the Vietnam War), people with anti-war sentiments are less likely to protest a Democrat [sic] president than a conservative Republican president. Let us ask ourselves, why would this be?
Well, let us consider the attitudes of Republicans concerning war, as contrasted with the attitudes of Democrats. Let us consider policy. Remember, war is more than just war. The biggest part of war is what happens after it is over, because war equals destruction, destruction of property, destruction of the lives of both the people who fight the war, and innocent civilians as well. I would submit that, if anti-war people are less likely demonstrate against Obama than Bush, that it has something to do with this, rather than some sort of prejudice. Look at policy. Look at attitudes. Look at the individuals.
I can’t look much at Geo. Bush however because every time I do I feel like I need to throw up.

Micky, we don’t need any more of your moon bat pedantic outbursts, you moron.
I am proud to give my hard earned money from my business to the government to spend as they see fit. Sure, there are problems, but and everything is perfectly efficient, but I’d rather give my money to the government to administer projects and programs that the public needs.
October 1st, 2011 at 10:00 am
@ Troll Boy.
Who the fck are “WE”? Theres more than one of you ?
Thank God for free speech or we’d never see ass holes like you coming
Do you even know what “pedantic” means ?
If I’m correct , I answered your question truthfully and factually. Did I not ?
So please, point out to me what is “pedantic”, would ya ?
Its your money, do what the fck you want with as I will mine.
What the fck you do with your money has nothing to do with your historic inaccuracy.
But while were at it, only a fckin idiot would give their money willingly to to thee most economically disastrous administration in history.
“”"everything is perfectly efficient “”" ????
Are you serious ?
Name me one government office that operated within its budget or as efficiently as any similar private service.
BTW, moron, try to keep up, you’re the moonbat…ass hole.
“Moonbat” = Liberal idiot ( I know, thats kinda redundant)
“Pedantic” = Overly concerned with minutia & detail
Stick those in your etcha sketch holmes

heh, this is no different than the case with Iraq/Saddam.
Everyone (for the most part) on both sides of the aisle supported or voted in favor of a preemptive strike…
..until the next elections rolled around.
I was for the war before I was against it.
Now, were entering another election, sooooo…
yup, theres going to be plenty of dead terrorists as we move thru this election cycle that Barry will be using for show n tell to garner moderate votes and as well from those on the left leaning slightly right.
All of which only fortifies and bolsters Warners statement.
“Their sole purpose was political, not moral.”
October 1st, 2011 at 2:33 pm
Micky, you are an imbecile. Everything about you is pedantic. Your IQ is lower than that of a donkey, and a dumb donkey at that.
Come at me with facts, not your idiotic world view. You are the ass hole.
October 1st, 2011 at 3:00 pm
Hey, lookie. Someone learned a new word. So far he’s used “pedantic” in every post! Isn’t it fun to learn new words?
October 1st, 2011 at 3:32 pm
Hey ass hole, Troll Boy.
Heres how it works.
You said;
“W. Bush would have killed them in his administration, but his leadership was just too incompetent to help find ‘em.”
And then I told you you were wrong.
You want facts ? I already gave them to you
Its a fact that Bush has captured, imprisoned and killed more Islamic terrorist than any US president ever.
To which you returned with some bullsht about you giving your hard earned money to the government.
That, made no fcking sense at all as far as the argument you presented in the first place
Got it ?
Moving on, ask your parents to come to the computer, would you please ?
I need to talk them about letting you hang with what is obviously to grown up a crowd for you.
You sound like you’re about 10 years old dude
October 1st, 2011 at 3:38 pm
““W. Bush would have killed them in his administration,”
Last I checked there were no terrorists in Bushs administration
“but his leadership was just too incompetent to help find ‘em.””
Really ? Then who are all those guys in Gitmo you’re friends have been crying over ?
I can tell by your accent that you’re not American.
Matter of fact you sound like “Yazan” the rabid little Arab who comes around and leaves puddles once in a while.
