Elvira Arellano was deported. She is the illegal immigrant who took sanctuary in a Chicago church to escape arrest and earlier deportation hearings. She was arrested at a rally on August 19th, 2007, and swiftly deported on August 20th.

She has become a symbol of illegal immigration on both sides of the issue. For those who defend Mexican nationals in the U.S., she is a symbol of the problem with broken families across borders. Her son is a U.S. citizen, by gift of his birth while she was in the United States illegally.
For those who are for more secure borders, Elvira Arellano is a symbol of immigrant extremism. She has made a public spectacle out of thumbing her nose at our nation’s laws.

No matter what side of the fence you are on, one thing we can probably agree on is that she is a poor mother. Elvira Arellano allowed herself to be deported without taking her 8-year old son, Saul. Just imagine wilfully separating from your own children to make a political point. The picture of Saul shows how Elvira Arellano has been using her son.

I am not a militant on the immigration issue but if you are an illegal and are dumb enough to allow yourself to exploited by leftist groups who really do not care about you, then you get what you deserve.
