This afternoon, John Boehner ended his negotiations with Barack Obama on resolving the debt ceiling issue. It has become crystal clear that Obama wants a debt crisis and never had any intention of brokering a genuine deal. Boehner says he will now ficus his efforts with Senate Democrats, whom earlier today rejected the House ′cut, cap and balance′ bill, the only legislation that has actually be written and submitted for a floor vote. Obama shot back with a quick press conference after he spent the day politicking at the University of Maryland, blaming Republicans and corporations for everything. During his presser after Boehner′s pull-out, Obama said that we have run out of time. Have we?
With the latest debt ceiling deadline on August 2, analysts saw today, July 22, as the last day for a legislative deal to begin the process of being debated and voted for. With all of the talk floating about Washington the past few weeks, only the Republicans have offered any detailed plans and only the Republicans have actually submitted a bill to be debated and voted for. Obama and the Democrats have offered nothing concrete, yet they claim that it is the Republicans who are not serious. Not acting like adults.
Naturally, Obama and the Democrats, along with their allies in the Media, are quick to place blame on the Tea Party. The White House spin machine claims that most Americans want compromise, meaning they want increased tax rates up front with mere promises of spending cuts sometime in the distant future. But in fact, most of the recent polls, including two new ones since yesterday, show that about two-thirds or more of likely voters do not want the debt ceiling raised at all. Those who do want spending cuts to play a primary role in any increase. As much as three-quarters of American likely voters want a balanced budget amendment to restrict the government from spending so much money.
The truth is, the Tea Party ARE the adults in the room! Not Obama nor any of the Democrat leadership. Just as the adult has to tell a child ″NO!″ when he or she wants a new toy or candy bar, the Tea Party is telling the political class in Washington that the game is over. They can no longer spend taxpayer money in such a reckless way. They may no longer borrow trillions of dollars from foreign banks, putting our very sovereignty at risk.
Everybody in Washington knew the federal government was going to max out the debt ceiling long ago. Obama and the Democrats did nothing about it last year following the single largest increase to the debt ceiling of $1.9 Trillion dollars in February, 2010. Even with that, they knew, given how much Obama and the Democrats have increased federal spending, that such a sum would only take them through till spring of 2011 at best. Since January of this year, while the Democrats have pretended to discuss the debt ceiling, no formal plan has ever been submitted for consideration as a vote. Just as they never submitted a budget for the 2011 fiscal year, which, by the way, ends on September 30.
Barack Obama has been the most disingenuous president in the history of the country. Nothing he says can be taken as the truth or has any value. Which is why John Boehner has finally had enough and has broken off negotiations with Obama to instead seek a resolution with Senate Democrats. Frankly, that probably won′t go very far either. But you never know, as we only need four Democrat senators to flip and actually work to find a real deal. Obama, however, does not want a deal. He is playing a dangerous game seeking a government shutdown, risking the potential of a bond rating downgrade. Obama thinks this will play well for his reelection in 2012, since he has nothing else to run on. As mentioned, even if the debt ceiling issue is resolved, we then have another budget crisis looming come October 1. Obama is in no hurry to fix that problem either.

I think Obama wants the default. Look like he is going to continue flushing the economy down the toilet (if it’s because of incompetence or ill will, time will tell) while trying to pin the blame on somebody else.
July 22nd, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Andrew’s theory that Obama is the one who wants a default on America’s debt is laughable, because it is the Republicans who are blocking raising the debt ceiling. If the Democrats controlled the House, the debt ceiling would have already been raised, as a routine thing, like it always has been before (by both Republicans, and Democrats).
If the debt ceiling is not raised, then everyone loses. That is, everyone except the top five percent, who have ALL the money these days.
They be OK. They fly away.
And this is the laughable thing about all you idiots who post on this web site. How many of you have money, real money? How many of you are not struggling? I sure as heck am. Yet you insist on kissing the butts of the exact people who are working overtime to keep you exactly where you are:
Posting comments on rightpundits.com. While we live our marginal lives, with our marginal hopes and American dreams, which will never, ever come true. No matter how hard we work, and no matter how much we believe in America.

“How many of you have money, real money? How many of you are not struggling? ‘
I thought 3 years ago I was on top of the world and my future was bright.
I’m actually worried as much as I was 15 years ago and all the time before I quit drinking n drugging and got married.
Today, not so much.
Because I’m at the mercy of a junkie in office
Thats what you should be aligning your criticism with and get your fcking mind off the rich.

Sad.
Remind me not to let you near anyone suicidal.
No wonder you’re such a miserable fck

Pathetic!!!

This is freaking awesome. I am starting to really believe that both sides have finally grown a pair, and that this battle will be fought to the finish. Yes there will be pain but pain is a very good teacher.
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:02 pm
Not so fast Tom.
Since the left never really submitted a plan and Barry just gave another blame speech it seems the only balls around are on the right as Boehner basically said hes tired of manchilds bs and flipping.
I swear the man is intentionally trying to crash the country.
I used to say that as hyperbole. I’m getting serious.
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:24 pm
Micky,
I think the respective positions are pretty clear.
I for one will not agree to significantly reduce entitlements unless the tax rates on the rich are raised to pre-Bush levels. Ever. Period.
Those on the other side see it differently, and are pretty much as set in their opinions as I am.
This battle has been brewing for years. Don’t you think it’s better we at long last just get it done, so we can all move on?
July 23rd, 2011 at 12:39 am
“I for one will not agree to significantly reduce entitlements unless the tax rates on the rich are raised to pre-Bush levels. Ever. Period.”
Even though Kennedy, Reagan, and Bush all proved that cutting taxes increases revenues? I think both you and your man-child president are just being vindictive Tommy.
But here’s a compromise. Let’s not cut any entitlement programs. Instead, let’s audit these programs and get rid of the waste, fraud, and redundancy in administration. My bet is that the savings would be bigger than any recommended cut.

@ Klo-less
The Democrats and Obama could have increased the debt ceiling last December just before the GOP took over the House. They knew then that at the rate of Obama’s spending, the ceiling would be reached by April, if not sooner.
No, Klo, the Democrats and Obama are the cowards here. They never submitted a budget for fiscal year 2011. Now they offer no plans in writing on raising the debt ceiling. They won’t even allow the Cut-Cap-Balance bill to be debated in the Senate. If they REALLY wanted a solution, then they should debate it, add amendments, vote and send it back to the House for a compromise and “git-’er-dun.”
This latest thing with Obama jacking up the tax increases from $800 Billion to $1.2 Trillion is why Boehner walked out. It is Obama and Democrats who are preventing a deal from being hammered out.

tom;
“This battle has been brewing for years. Don’t you think it’s better we at long last just get it done, so we can all move on?”
You’re not “moving on”
You’re just asking for more of the same that got us in this mess.
“I think the respective positions are pretty clear.”
Then you have problems thinking.
As I said, the left has proposed no plan so the only position they could possibly hold is obstruction by letting us be their monkeys bringing them one suggestion after another to have it shot down or at the last minute try to slap a little extra on the tail of asn agreement like we just saw with Barry going from 800 billion to 1.200 trillion.
Theres no room for additional taxation anywhere in the present climate and anyone whos balanced a check book knows the entitlements have got to be trimmed.
And excuse the fck out of any of us who request the most basic platform and principle of any financial practice which is to have a budget in which to work with.
Its like having a house with no foundation, a car with no chassis, a body with no skeleton…
…its freakin stoooopid
July 23rd, 2011 at 4:21 am
The thing that drives me crazy is how the MSM is lying about the whole bond rating downgrade. The meeting the other day between the GOP and S&P showed that as far as S&P is concerned, the only plan that would stop a downgrade is the Cut-Cap-and-Balance. They want a long-term plan that reduces spending and balances the budget. Nothing Obama or the Democrats are talking about would prevent a downgrade.
July 23rd, 2011 at 4:38 am
How do we balance a budget we cant define ?
This shts absurd, crazy talk man, crazy talk
July 23rd, 2011 at 4:45 am
The fed or any government budget doesnt even have to have a system based on profit, so drawing up a budget should be all that much simpler and streamlined
July 23rd, 2011 at 5:30 am
Nah, they have to complicate the budget so they can keep spending and add 40 cents of each dollar to the debt. Yesterday Obama was talking about how he wants a “big deal” that goes well beyond just funding the deficit beyond January 2013. He wants more than just $2.4 Trillion increase. When was that even on the table? He’ll be lucky to get enough cash to fund six months.
July 23rd, 2011 at 6:01 am
Micky, the “left” I presume you refer to, ie democrat-allied centrists, have not formally and publicly proposed a plan because once they do, their heads will freaking explode because that plan would specifically lay out significant, specific cuts to the entitlement programs. Obama is not stupid, or stupid enough if you prefer, to do that until and unless there is relatively firm assurance on the repubs side that at least a few repubs have the stones to stand up to Master Norquist and the plan will get enough votes to pass. Which leads me to ask, assuming the approach I am advocating, ie benefit cuts and tax increases, is pretty similar to the gang of six plan, does that make them libs too?
July 23rd, 2011 at 6:15 am
Mr. Monkey, if you show me specific ways to cut waste and fraud which would save trillions I would agree to not raise taxes in second. Since none of the intelligent, egotistical, corrupt politicians have ever made a serious effort to identify potentialvsavings of that magnitude, I don’t think it can be done. And it would have been done because the politician of either party who pulled that off would have a shot at fulfilling their fantasy of ultimately getting to sit in Barry chair and flying in that big plane wherever and whenever they want. So until that day occurs and that political rocket scientist comes up with that great plan l am unwilling to close the massive funding shortfall entirel6 with benefit cuts.
July 23rd, 2011 at 6:19 am
“the gang of six plan, does that make them libs too?”
Nice try.
But that whole rant does not address the lefts shortcomings on this.
Barry has no right to b*tch about any proposition if he cant give a budget to work with.
Ya know, I’ve managed restaurants, big ones, and can tell you most assuredly that you cannot move forward on any fiscal proposition without budgeted guidelines.
Barry wants a blank check and that just not going to fly.
We do not have a revenue problem. The consensuses that this is old news and that no level of taxation for the next ten years will get us out of this as quickly as changing our spending habits will.
Its simple freaking math and these morons have to grow up and realize theres no money for pizza nights anymore.
If these gangs are allowing any entitlement barters in their propositions its only to reach a compromise TO WHICH ALL HAVE FAILED on the part of the left.!!!
We had an agreement on 800 in writing and right before the handshake Barry asked for another 400 and everything off the books. (what books?)
Weve made our commitment on our end.
Barrys commitments have changed repeatedly over the last couple of weeks.
Its really quite pathetic
End of story
July 23rd, 2011 at 6:23 am
Besides, we have the cash flow to pay these entitlements that for some reason are being dealt with as if we’d default on them.
SS etc… is covered,
So stop trying to scare the sht outta folks into thinking we just want people to die early or starve.
Its as reprehensible as racism or using racism to ulterior purposes
July 23rd, 2011 at 6:53 am
Micky no one is asking for a blank check or ranting or trying to scare anyone. I think the very public carpimg about 400 billion moving outposts shows both sides are talking specifics and are just arguing about how much quid for the quo.
July 23rd, 2011 at 7:15 am
#2 Ghoast of Klo wrote a very true post here that says it all. The last two paragraphs is stunning! Impressive. He definitely gets it!!! I think he is the best and most accurate responder to threads on this site!
July 23rd, 2011 at 9:55 am
Tom;
“Micky no one is asking for a blank check or ranting or trying to scare anyone. ”
Yeah right.
Telling people you cant guarantee their checks will come when any half informed schmuck knows we have enough daily revenues to cover these id fear mongering.
And asking for 1.2 trillion without submitting a budget is no different than you applying for a loan and not submitting your budget to the bank.
The bank is not going to fill out that check til you make a commitment.
What planet are you from ?
And its been quite clear to the world that Barry wanted 800.
And now he wants 1.2
case closed
Give it a rest

@ Brian
Klo;
“Yet you insist on kissing the butts of the exact people who are working overtime to keep you exactly where you are:’
Yes, this is exactly what the left has been doing for the last 50 years.
Brilliant !
I just wrote a post yesterday saying the exact same thing !
Its in the Washington community Times under the John Stewart post.
(links are a pain in the ass here now)
============================
Micky;
“I’ve debated many a liberal and been called racist as their last ditch effort for them to appear relevant many times to the point where they either get ignore from that point on or asked ; “whats worse ? baseless accusations of racism or racism itself ?”
Both are equally reprehensible but does either get us the answer we are looking for.
Because the truth is Mr. Moonbat.
If it were not for race and minorities your party would pretty much not have a position to base the majority of its protests on.
We on the right are not the ones who for 50+ years have used race as an on ramp or proxy to support our agendas.
Once its seen who the majority of your voters are its no secret who you cater to and depend on.
To actually care about these misfortunes some have experienced as a result of racism is enviable but if you really cared why are these people all in the same position after voting for you for the last 50 years ?
Its no secret your party needs to keep these demographics on the hook for fear they no longer need you to ensure the entitlements you’ve hooked them on
Recently on the Wasserman issue I was called racist for defending a black mans supposed racist/sexist attack on Wasserman.
Enough already !
To which I told the individual;
“The only time a black man is a racist and is not a victim of whites/racism is when hes a wealthy republican who puts one of your own in her place ?
Hows it feel to be a certifiable racist ?
Racism is not solely the act of discrimination or bigotry based on race.
Its also the use of race for ulterior purposes”

Your moral clarity on this issue is fantastic and should be repeated in every college in America so the young people will understand who is truly deliberately poisoning the well.
Brilliantly stated sir!
