The Nancy Grace reaction to the Casey Anthony not guilty verdict is not unexpected. ″In the end, Tot Mom′s lies seemed to have worked.″ Grace, who hosts a show on HLN, sister network to CNN, is furious that the jury came back so quickly, barely deliberating for a full day, finding Casey Anthony not guilty of the serious crimes of murder in the first degree, aggravated child abuse or even of manslaughter. Only the four charges of lying to the police earned guilty verdicts, each a felony with a maximum of one year in prison. Casey Anthony, who has spent the last three years in the Orange County Jail in Florida, will be sentenced Thursday. Expectation now are that she will be released with time-served, possibly after a quick transfer to a state prison to meet the felony sentencing requirements. A process known as ′touching the wall′.
So why is Nancy so furious? Well, for starters, she was proven wrong! Grace had developed a cottage industry concerning the death of Caylee Anthony. Her cable-TV show featured the story often, especially the last two months since the court proceedings began. She, and many others in the Media, sided quickly with the prosecution and demonized Casey Anthony. For the past three years, they built up the public sentiment that Casey must be guilty and deserves the death penalty.
But all that came crashing down today. While the actual jurors who decided the verdict have not spoken publicly yet, one of the alternates, Juror No.14, Russell Huekler, spoke on the Fox News Channel. ″We don′t know how she (Caylee) died.″ He added that ″It just comes down to probably an accident that the family didn′t know how to cope with…the prosecution failed to show motive.″ Legal analysts more objective than Nancy Grace concur. The prosecution spent three years and millions of dollars building a case based on very flimsy circumstantial evidence that could not support a Murder-One conviction. If Casey could not be proven guilty of that, then the prosecution′s entire case fails, even with the optional lesser charges of manslaughter and child abuse.
Between Media types like Nancy Grace, and the prosecution team releasing video and audio tapes from while Casey Anthony was in jail, the public at large was spoon-fed a one-sided story. Many critics of this point to the British legal system, where the Media is gagged and cannot discuss and hype up a court case until after the trial is over. One can appreciate the wisdom of this after what has just taken place.
So the first big trial of the 21st Century is over and the Nancy Grace reaction to the Casey Anthony not guilty verdict is out. The CNN-HLN legal host of ′Swift Justice′ may say it all for Nancy Grace. Did she ′swift-boat′ ′Tot Mom′ Casey Anthony? Finding her guilty in the case long before any real evidence pointed to such a conclusion? Personally, from what I saw in the little of the trial I actually watched, the prosecution reached too high pursuing a Murder in the First Degree conviction. I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. But I′ve read enough Sherlock Holmes stories to know that while circumstantial evidence, like the dog that does not bark, may be crucial, it is not substitute for real evidence. There probably will never be any justice now for Caylee Anthony as a result of the prosecution fumbling the ball. If Nancy Grace wants to be mad at somebody, she should focus her anger there.

I personally think that she killed her child. Rather it was by accident or not i am not sure. What i am sure of is that the prosecution did not prove their case. I have listened to some of the jurors that have spoken and they have said the same thing. They were sick to their stomachs to find her not guilty. They stated as well that this does not mean that Casey was innocent, just that the prosecution did not prove she murdered her child. This case was highly circumstantial with now proof of cause of death and no murder weapon.
Yes her actions afterward were incompressible, yes her mother lied on the stand, non of this proves she murdered her daughter.
In the end, I think her mother got away with it because of an overzealous prosecutor that over charged the case with too little evidence to back up the charge.

“In the end, I think her mother got away with it because of an overzealous prosecutor that over charged the case with too little evidence to back up the charge.”
I agree, but what other charges besides the ones used could of seen she do substantial time ?
They couldnt even bring assault against her with the evidence at hand.

Micky,
They should have continued to try and get more evidence before bringing the case to trial. I think the sentiment in the media etc was a factor in the prosecution rushing the case. Once the body was found, there was pressure to bring the killer to justice. IMHO, the prosecutor thought they knew who the killer was, but could not get the evidence to support their theory. Thus, they relied on circumstantial evidence.
Maybe have tried her for the lessor accounts of obstruction while still trying to build a case for the other accounts.

Well, if the body wasnt so decomposed they could of got more evidence.
They could of elevated the 4 lying to the cop to obstruction but I have a feeling the punitive would be the same, 1 year for each count.
I think the jury realizes that Caysee didnt deliberately kill Caylee and that any calls to EMTs would of been useless.
I think they felt she was responsible for circumstances that lead to her death and handled it poorly from that point on.
For myself, I wouldnt want it looking like I let my kid drown, and I can see someone trying to make it look like she was snatched and suffocated in order to cover me lookin like a shtty parent.
What I found intriguing was that I think her father, being a cop, knew that after so much decomposition it would be hard to tell what killed her.
Had she been found earlier with chlorine water in her lungs, or a hemorrhage in her brain or to some organ they could of made a battery or negligence case at least.
But keeping the body from the coroner as long as possible is what they needed to do in order to see that evidence never be tangible.
Many people got the impression dad had a lot to hide.
As far as Caseys behavior after Caylee died.
All I can say is this.
My father died in my arm Christmas eve with 20 people in my family watching.
I went nuts.
You couldnt find me on this island for a month.
I was in every bar, every hotel, probably only slept 5 days out of the whole month before I ended up in jail.
I think if they pushed dad a little more, both him and Caylee would be in jail now for obstruction and hinderance.
I saw no motive for Caylee to kill Caysee because the little girl really wasnt in the way of her partying.
She didnt need the fictitious babysitter because her parents would of taken that little girl anytime Caysee asked them to. Even til she was an adult. The grandparents were definitely attached to that little girl.
=================================
I remember having my 2 year old daughter sleeping next to me and waking up to her GONE!
I freaked out running all over the apt., the complex, screamin and yellin wakin up the whole neighborhood.
Then when the cops got there they found her sleeping in a one foot gap, on the floor, between the bed and the wall and you couldnt see her because I’d thrown off the blankets landing on her.
Worst feeling in the world
