Embattled Representative (now happily a “former” one) Anthony Weiner of New York has amusingly proved true the old trope that Democrats simply have no values. Worse, he’s gone a long way to prove true the assumption by many that Democrats don’t even know what a “value” is.
In a scene that couldn’t even be written by the best of late night comedians, in his resignation speech Rep. Weiner actually thanked his parents for the “values they instilled” in him, those wonderful values that have helped him so much to this point.
Here’s what he said:
“And of course I want to express my gratitude to my family: to my mother and father who instilled in me the values that carried me this far…”
Seriously, Mr. Weiner? What sort of values are those? What sort of parents teach “values” that include using the Internet to send around nude, nearly nude, and suggestive photos of oneself to random strangers? What sort of “values” lead one to contact underage girls and use one’s powerful place in government to impress them into starting a perverted email chain?
I have one other question, here, too. Is this actually a slap at his parents? Is he blaming them for etching him the “values” that have gotten him in trouble?
Mr. Weiner has certainly had one of the hardest falls in recent memory. But it is good riddance to bad rubbish at this point.

Nice how he dragged his parents into this. My favorite line from his “somber resignation” was when he said that most importantly that he will get the help he needs and heals. You’d think that fixing his marriage would be the most important?

Although I think in his case I think the treatment thing is bullsht but when approaching any character defect that leads to addiction or collateral damage of others its you that has to be focused on first.
Cant fix his marriage if hes still broken.
But, in my opinion if this moron needs any kind of treatment it would be to fckin tear him down in a group session and let him be made to feel what a piece of sht he is.
We used to do this with clients, put em on the “hot seat”.
We’d all gather in a circle and seat Weiner in the center and go round the circle having everyone one at a time vent on him what they dislike about him and thought his personal defects were.
You were required to sit there and shut up, soak it up and not say a thing til everyone was done.
Of course after the client has his epiphany and realizes the truth about himself, sometimes within that session or after a few hes then later told one at a time by everyone what they like about him and what potentials they see in him.
Demolish that crappy foundation and then build a new and better person on it.
Its a rough procedure, its emotional, some cant take admitting just what a sack o sht they’ve been their whole life that lead to them draggin family and loved ones down on him.
It was done to me numerous times until I was finally ready to admit what a selfish delusional prick I’d been my whole life.
I didnt have no shtty childhood nor was I the victim of some abuse that I could blame my habit on
I just liked to get high, plain and simple and didnt give a fck what it did to anyone around me.
Strangely enough this was about the time I started seeing things from a conservative aspect.
That was 20 years ago and here I am now with 15 years of not a drink or drug(except for the occasional hooter) after a few slips in my first 5 years.
Sadly, but statistically true, its people with Weiners level of narcissism, arrogance and self regard that dont make it.
Much like Glenn Beck said yesterday.
As a human I wish him success, but as a politician he was creating an awful lot of damage.
Full disclosure, with all sincerity I never liked the guy from the git go and would like to see him get shoved around and humiliated.
I’m sick like that.
Also, as much as I support or wish this kind of treatment for Weiner, ironically, the guy who originally developed the technique killed himself
