The Bilderberg 2011 meeting is being held this weekend in St. Moritz, Switzerland. For those unfamiliar with the Bilderberg Group meetings, these are a series of annual conferences attended by the world′s power elite. Politicians, bankers, corporate executives and heads of various think tanks and other NGO groups. The first such meeting was held in 1954 at the Hotel de Bilderberg in Arnhem, Holland, thus the name. For the most part, these conferences are held in extreme secrecy and with little, if any press coverage. Each year the meeting is held at an exclusive location, as far from prying eyes as possible.

This year, the guest list is as impressive as always. Attendees include: Ying Fu, Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josef Ackermann of Deutsche Bank, Thomas Enders, CEO of Airbus, George Osborne, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the European Central Bank, Peter Sutherland of Goldman Sachs, and Queen Sofia of Spain. A large number of Americans are also attending, such as Keith Alexander of the National Security Agency, Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg, former Obama budget manager Peter Orszag who is now with Citigroup, Eric Schmidt of Google, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, former Treasury Secretary and current co-chair of the Council of Foreign Relations Robert Rubin, Charlie Rose of PBS, and everybody′s favorite Bilderbergers, David Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger.

The meeting itself is being held at a posh ski resort, the Survetta House, essentially vacant during the off-season. A large number of activists have camped outside, attempting to monitor and learn what this year′s conference agenda is. Choosing a new head for the International Monetary Fund is believed to be high on their list. One Italian politician who was not invited tried to crash the conference. Mario Borghezio was denied entrance and reportedly got a bloody nose from security guards.

The Bilderberg 2011 meeting in St. Moritz, Switzerland is attracting little attention from the world′s major press organizations. The annual conference is considered by some to play a major role in international policy measures. Some even believe that national leaders are selected, such as Barack Obama, who allegedly attended the 2008 conference. While more is known these days, the veil of secrecy continues to shield the Bilderberg Group meetings.
