Well, Rick Santorum announced that he is definitely in the hunt for the 2012 GOP nomination last week and he’s already released his first radio ad. He’s the first GOP hopeful to do so.
It has the tag line, “Rick Santorum, the courage to fight for America.”
I have to say, this is a good message. Calling the nation’s debt problem “immoral” is right on, in fact. Whether he can get any traction in this crowded field, though, is another matter.
I like Rick. Many see him as just “the anti-abortion candidate” as if he’s a one-note guy, but I had the opportunity to interview him earlier this year and he was good on a number of issues.
Santorum’s website can be seen at: www.ricksantorum.com

Let’s see, he vows to overturn Roe vs. Wade and put doctors in jail.
Compared homosexuality to bestiality.
Says Ryan plan did not go far enough.
Yeah, that’s a winning strategy!

His “big tent” is more the size of a pup tent.

Buzzbee;
“His “big tent” is more the size of a pup tent.”
Can we stop talking about Weiners underwear tweet for a day ?

“Courage to fight for America? Oh right… because America is headed into some moral abyss if DOMA isn’t defended/if abortion isn’t completely prohibited even in cases of rape and incest.
Obama is vulnerable and we need to beat him! But clearly his weaknesses are on fiscal issues. The GOP must nominate a fiscally conservative candidate and one who isn’t too socially conservative because those more extreme social conservative policies will scare a lot of otherwise-fiscally-concerned independents right into Obama’s arms.
At least Santorum is only a joke candidate.

“Let’s see, he vows to overturn Roe vs. Wade and put doctors in jail.”
Yeah, I always thought killing humans with heartbeats deserved more than a little kickback from planned parenthood
“Compared homosexuality to bestiality.”
Thats putting it nicely
I could never wrap my mind around the attraction of getting sht all over my dick.
If were to go alternative I’d go green with a watermelon, cantaloupe or something like that.
“Says Ryan plan did not go far enough.”
Hes right, but you cant say Santorum isnt trying to work with you guys
“Yeah, that’s a winning strategy!”
At least hes not pi$$ing away 3 trillion and wants to throw away another 3…sheeesh.
You guys have no business using the word strategy when you dont even know how you’ll fund the fed from one week to the next.

Rick Santorum: The courage to fight for the top 1% of America.
June 11th, 2011 at 10:37 pm
I’d have to agree with Moderate Republican.
I really like Rick Santorum and feel he has the best interest for the country at heart but he’s coming off way too Pat Buchananish. He needs to tone it down and be more Reaganesque.
His uncompromising rhetoric will not resonate with anybody but those on the far right.
June 12th, 2011 at 6:53 am
Remember in today’s Republican Party, Reagan would have been eliminated or at the very least been categorized as a RINO.
Now, Buchanan would get my vote.
While I disagree with him on many issues, I admire his logic and analytical skills. He truly does see issues from both sides and appears to make objective decisions.
One of the few people that can make an argument for an issue in which I have the opposite view and when he is finished I can honestly say, “You know, you make good points and I might change my mind”.
There is a huge group of people that are fiscally conservative, but have no desire to have the federal government involved in moral rhetoric.
Drugs? Legalize them. If someone wants to get high, I don’t care, I just don’t want someone to steal my car to pay for it.
Abortion, not by business, especially as a man.
Privacy, um, I like it.
Prayer? As much as you want, but don’t try to include me at school or while attending events. You want to say it quietly to yourself, I don’t care.
Taxation? Heck, just enact a national sales tax. Will there be a temporary hiccup? Sure, but it is equitable.
Spending? Have departments work on commission, a blend of achievement and profitability.
Defense spending? Reconfigure for today’s enemies. More clandestine, CIA, cybercentric, less “boots on the ground”. Less costly and more effective.
A Republican candidate that espouses those views will win.
The lack of support for Romney is overwhelming.
The poll they showed a few days ago was illuminating. Perry from Texas throws his hat in the ring and is immediately a close second. That is merely an invitation for anyone to enter and win. Trump had the same result before he committed political suicide (although I don’t think we have heard the last of him).
I still contend that the Republican candidate is not in the race as of yet.
By the way, isn’t “moderate Republican” an oxymoron? The Bob Doles, the smart Bush and Ronald Reagan’s and the smart Bush’s (Sr.) of the world would now be categorized as the enemy of the GOP.
Too bad, because I think the electorate is made up of moderate Republicans. Not this site, but, you know, “regular” people.

santorum is grandiose to think he has the right stuff and wants to impose himself as the American President. That is really the saddest part, that someone that out of it so wants to impose himself on “we the people”. The freak even wants to control womans body’s thru threat of law on them and their doctors. What male narcissism. spare us.
June 12th, 2011 at 8:20 am
Once again, Brian makes no sense at all. Is English your second… no, third… language? What is this “impose” foolishness you are speaking of? He is “imposing” nothing. He is running for election! But, even assuming your use of words isn’t stupid, one can say that ANYONE wishing to be president is “imposing” themselves on the nation. So, even accepting your moronic choice of words, your “point” is still ridiculous because the assumption would be ubiquitous across the scale.
June 12th, 2011 at 8:28 am
I just watch his interview this sunday on tv and santorum is so full of himself he is completely fos. He even said he wants to completely control womans reproductive rights to bear a rappists child and criminalize the doctor if she chose not to carry the pregnancy. Seems to me that is total trampling of a womans right to chose how her body reproduces. Wouldn’t you say warner? That tells me he is a control freak. A good president simply “presides” over the affairs of people, basically facilitating what they want in a fashion, not telling them what they must do. Big diff. You should have seen santorum, so lit up and excited about his greatness he was offereing when in the end he is just one more republican control freak that wants to invade peoples most personal life choices. So take your subject changing sarcasm and send it to the shoppig club and go down that aisle warner as I ain’t buying.

None of the current tablet of republican’s have what I call the right stuff to be an american president if you are looking for a “man” with vision and deep talent. Romney could probably pull it off technically being the former Massachussetts governor as that is a complicated state politically and they don’t suffer fools gladly. But what vision does he have. I do think you want a President, right or wrong, who has some vision and sales ability to get people to do the heavy pulling. Simply haveing a blamer there, a sarcastist who wants to cut everything and disenfranchise the working classes isn’t good enough. Privatizing the government isn’t a good answer either. It seems some of you simply want a president who is a liquidator, selling off what is left to private business, and shuttering everything down, and enacting even more socially conserv ative laws hemming in what little freedom people have left to live their lives. What good is that? Is that all you think of America now? You have caved and given up and are too weak to lead. I see the Democrats are stuck on ice and stalled and you only want to suck them further into inaction. I don’t see how a stick in the mud party that wants to freeze everything can move America forward. Look at the republican record as of late. What have they even done under Boehners watch in moving anything foward? Where are the jobs programs? I see nothing. Now they intend to default on the world come Aug 2 and renege on paying the debts they too rang up. There is a moral failing there. Right now, if they had any leadership ability at all, they could declare they will prioritize the incoming revenues thru taxes and rents to go to the holders of treasurys across the globe so that they know they will continue being paid while we try and figure out our problems, and put the financial markets much more at ease. But lacking leadership, they cannot even do that. They have no robust ideas on positive leadership going foward. This idea some have that we can just default for a few days and “what me worry?” is so misguided, immature, and bratty. I don’t call that leadership, do you?
June 12th, 2011 at 8:53 am
Interesting buzzbee, and I actually agree with you on a few points.
Taxation, Spending, Privacy, and Defense:
Agree across the board.
Abortion? I once thought like you. As a man it was none of my business. But let’s make it equitable. If the man deems it a mistake he can also request she have an abortion on demand. If she refuses he is not financially responsible. She can’t have it both ways.
Drugs? I agree, legalize them but increase by tenfold the mandatory minimum for crimes such as theft, burglary, or robbery for those who commit them to support their habits. I don’t want my car stolen either.
Prayer? Since this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principals and has a rich religious history from its inception I also agree that people should pray all they want. Wherever they want. Those who don’t like it are free not to listen.

Brian, take a pill.
You’re speaking so much incoherent non applicable drummed up sht out your ass its not even funny.
For example;
“None of the current tablet of republican’s have what I call the right stuff to be an american president”
Anyone who knows you knows that you despise anyone who leans just a fraction to the right so how could you ever qualify as a judge of any conservative or republican candidate ?
“Simply haveing a blamer there, a sarcastist who wants to cut everything and disenfranchise the working classes isn’t good enough.”
Are you serious ?
Obama has blamed everyone for everything in creation except himself and sure as hell hasnt done a thing for the working class except to raise their unemployment and food stamp recipient statistics.
“I see nothing. Now they intend to default on the world come Aug 2 and renege on paying the debts they too rang up.”
“they” ?
Excuse me, but I seem to remember the 110th congress voting on the same lines as Bush and the 111th voting for both wars, and the TARP.
The largest debt was incurred during the last two years where up til now Bush wasnt even president, Barry pee’d away 3 trillion getting us nowhere but worse and now wants to hit the replay button and pi$$ away another 3 trillion.
“There is a moral failing there. Right now, if they had any leadership ability at all, they could declare they will prioritize the incoming revenues”
They have. But the part you missed is the “spending” they will prioritize.
“A good president simply “presides” over the affairs of people, basically facilitating what they want in a fashion, not telling them what they must do. Big diff. ”
You mean like making us buy stuff we dont want or be penalized ?
As far as abortion goes.
Anyone with any moral ability would bring into this world and nourish a life they created.
But who needs those pesky little parasites getting in the way of their promiscuity ?
Screw it, cut em out and toss em in the bio hazard container and have everyone foot he bill.
Start thinking

Hey Mick, remember when Brian said he was the most conservative person on this site?
He lied then too!!!
