After the Senate failed to pass the Democratic “Retreat and Surrrender” amendment to the Defense Authorization bill that would’ve required President Bush to begin a withdrawal of U.S forces in Iraq., the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-Nev.), pulled the overall bill from Senate consideration. With his action, Senator Reid failed to do the following:

Authorize a 3.5 percent pay raise to men and women in the military.

Modernize military equipment.

Pass the wounded warriors legislation, which is vitally needed to care for our wounded veterans.

Revise regulations for detaining suspects in the war on terror.

Increase the size of the Army and Marines.

Why did Harry have to take his marbles and go home? I think the Senate should finish up this bill right now. Only 2 or 3 more days of debates were needed.

Enough with the politics Harry – its time to pass this bill!
