Al Gore and his guests at his daughter’s wedding enjoyed a great meal. Hundred of people dined on Chilean Sea Bass, also known as Patagonian toothfish to celebrate Sara Gores marriage to Bill Lee. The endangered species were fried and baked and broiled until everyone was completely stuffed before the toast to the happy couple.

The problem is that Chilean Sea Bass are on the threatened list, and some consider them an endangered species.

The supplies of Patagonian toothfish are under pressure from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities in the Southern Ocean, jeopardizing the sustainability of remaining stocks. It is estimated that Al Gore served hundreds of illegally caught fish at his daughter’s wedding.

Approximately 50 per cent of toothfish are illegally caught, and includes juveniles vital to the ongoing toothfish population.
