According to a report by Brian Ross of ABC News, the royal wedding that is scheduled to happen this weekend is a prime target for Al Qaeda. Anjem Choudary, a radical Muslim cleric based in London, claims that Ayman Al-Zawahiri and Anwar Al-Awlaki are calling for individuals to carry out ‘do it yourself’ style operations similar to the Underwear Bomber mission which was attempted, as we remember on Christmas, 2009.
Choudary also said that because he is under constant scrutiny, he is unable to take part himself in such operations. It’s good to know that there is something stopping him, since I guess he is unable to stop himself. Instead, on April 29th, the wedding date, he plans to protest outside Westminster Abbey with a group of like-minded individuals, although Scotland Yard has prohibited these actions. His group, Muslims Against Crusades, has put a countdown clock to the wedding on its website. Scotland Yard has stated that it thinks that the group’s actions may encourage some terrorists to conduct actions in London to disrupt the ceremony.
