Donald Trump boasted yesterday of the strong support he has from “The Blacks” while on Talk 1300 AM radio. What’s worse is that the presidential hopeful didn’t even seem to notice his faux pas!

I thought it was going to be a good day for the likely Republican candidate! He had recently garnered respect by upping his gallup poll ranking among Republican candidates. He’s now a close second to Mitt Romney.

“I have a great relationship with the blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.”

The corporate mogul was responding to a recent poll that showed 8 out of 10 Black Americans would support Obama in the coming election. Citing his relationships with rapper 50 Cent, Lil Jon, and Latoya Jackson, the “Apprentice” host said he wasn’t convinced Obama would totally dominate the vote.

Still if his recent statement doesn’t alienate him from that demographic, what will? The corporate mogul has more to worry about than offensive remarks. Hard-core Republicans are concerned that Trump might not toe the party line once in office. The celebrity has switched party allegiance multiple times over the years. In 2009 he actually went from Republican, to Democrat, and then back to the GOP, all in one year! Furthermore, he’s donated to support Democrat candidates as recently as last year, when he gave $50,000 to Rahm Emmanuel.

More worrying for Republicans is that Trump is deservedly one of their leading candidates along with Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. With the current debt crisis and previous economic meltdown damaging Obama’s chances for re-election, Republicans are in a good position to re-take the White House, if only they could find a really strong candidate to put forward. Will Trump really be the man? Should he not count on his support from “The Blacks?” Let me know what you think in the comment section!
