You know that an American administration has proven useless and ineffective for supporting liberty and freedom in oppressed countries when even France… France… takes the lead in recognizing a struggling, independent liberty movement. Such is the case in Libya where French President Nicolas Sarkozy has recognized and supported the Libyan rebels struggling to over throw Libyan dictator Gaddhafi.
For his part, President Obama, the man that is supposed to be fulfilling the role of the “leader of the free world” is attending school bullying pressers and secretly supporting fleebagging Democrats in Wisconsin while practically turning a blind eye to the Libyan rebels fighting for their lives.
So France takes the lead in coming to the aid of freedom.
In a major diplomatic victory for the Libyan opposition, France has become the first country to formally recognise Libya’s rebel leadership, pledging to exchange ambassadors between Paris and the Libyan opposition stronghold of Benghazi.
I never thought I’d ever say this, but hoorah for the French.
It is a disgrace that President Obama has done so little either rhetorically or materially to support the rebels. Who cannot feel that he is laying a bet that Gaddhafi is going to beat down the rebellion? Who cannot see that Obama is essentially betting on the dictator?
Shame on Obama.
In the meantime, as Obama fiddles, Gaddahfi is destroying his own oil fields to spite the rebels.
**UPDATE**
Well, above I said that it seems obvious that the Obama administration is betting that Libyan dictator Gaddhafi will beat down his insurgents and this is why Obama is turning a blind eye to the rebels fighting for their liberty.
I admit that when I wrote that I was just surmising from the administration’s actions. Now I have proof that what I said is spot on.
One of Obama’s security advisers, James Clapper, said just that today. He asserted that Gaddhafi would “prevail” over the rebels.
The White House today has fallen all over itself to explain it away, but it appears I was right regardless.

I’ve said this before, Obama is America’s first anti-President! I have to add, though, that NID James Clapper gave yet another splendidly stupid testimony today on the Hill. He, like Obama, show just how ignorant our present ‘leadership’ is.

No wonder the toilet is named after him. Oh, wait. That’s crapper not clapper. Well, you know.

Of course France is going to take the lead. They never left Libya and have the most to lose. They have been in Gas & Oil for the past 50 years in Libya. They also have maintained diplomatic relations. They were the first to arm Libya after the lifting of the embargo. America has never “lead” the free world more like bullied the free world.

Give it a rest Raz
If it werent for America the French would be speaking German

I wish you right wingers would get your story straight… are you for or against the Libyan War?? I mean half the editorials on this site are saying Obama’s a big wimp, and the others are saying he’s a warmonger bent on dragging us into a war that isnt’ in America’s interest.
Please pick your side and stick to it.
March 10th, 2011 at 9:10 pm
….. or you extremist left-wingers could actually stay on topic in your comments for once instead of going off on wild tangents. How’s that?

March 11th, 2011 at 4:16 am
BTW, Raz, if that really is your name (“Dr. Strangelove” reference), Libya was NOT part of France, but Italy. Algiers and Morocco were French, idiot!
March 11th, 2011 at 4:18 am
@ ‘Me’ (if that really is your name, LOL!)
It is all quite simple when speaking, or writing about Barack Hussein Obama. He can be a wimp and a warmonger simultaneously! Why? Because he’s a stupid, self-absorbed egomaniac!
March 11th, 2011 at 4:20 am
BTW, ‘Me’, I’ve suggested before that you read “How To Make War” by James F. Dunnigan. Most wars in the last century were started for domestic reasons. Given how poorly our economy is, and how Obama would like nothing more than to distract us all, I’m sure he’s seen “Wag the Dog”. That’s about the extent of his intellectual power.

March 11th, 2011 at 4:32 am
“Yeah, Micky, he should send his pals Rev. Wright and Calypso Louie to chat with Qaddafi.”
That might actually carry some merit
March 11th, 2011 at 4:44 am
@Andy…I’m not seeing where Raz said Libya is “part” of France?
Anyway, does Libya even want our help??
March 11th, 2011 at 4:57 am
“Anyway, does Libya even want our help??”
Where you been ?
Depends which Libya you’re talking about.
The rebels called for US no fly zone and arms a while back.
We just have no idea whos hands those arms end up in.
BTW, theirs a lotta Muslims voting in France so it would make sense to cater to that base
March 11th, 2011 at 5:41 am
Haven’t been as focused on the Middle East uprisings the last week or so.
Perhaps some help from the US now might go a long way in relations down the road with whoever takes Qaddafi’s place (especially considering we’ve helped to prop this freak up all these years).
And, I just read that a little two year old Libyan girl was killed by gunfire. I can’t get past that things like this are still happening in 2011. I know that the news is full of horror every day, but…I’ll never get used to it/resigned to it.
–sigh–
March 11th, 2011 at 5:47 am
I actually hate to say “we” have propped Qaddafi up. I think that given the choice, your average American would not be on board with being allies with such a psychopathic dictator. But these decisions always seem to be made by “those who make the world work”…as I will never, ever forget someone from the State Department describing themselves as that (in the context of outrage that Wikileaks was exposing their cables – and preventing them from “making the world work.”)
March 11th, 2011 at 6:15 am
Just woke up to hear of the earthquake and tsunami in Hawaii. Praying for you guys out there!
March 11th, 2011 at 6:20 am
“I actually hate to say “we” have propped Qaddafi up.”
“We” have less propped him up than simply not tried very hard to knock him down. He’s been our enemy since day one and we have bombed him and sanctioned him many times. So, to say we “propped up” Gadaffhi is simply not correct.
March 11th, 2011 at 6:29 am
But not for many years. I was quite skeptical when he started to be talked about as an “ally” who had become more of a “statesman” and sanctions were lifted some years back.
March 11th, 2011 at 6:31 am
Or rather, most sanctions were lifted.
March 11th, 2011 at 6:37 am
But your characterization of “not tried very hard to knock him down” is more apt.
I wonder why we haven’t?
March 11th, 2011 at 6:37 am
Warner…
looks like we dodged the bullet.
