How else do you celebrate National Pancake Day 2011 but with free pancakes at IHOP? Today, Tuesday is Pancake Day in America and across the land, from 7am till 10pm, the International House of Pancakes is offering free pancakes. Guests can get a free short stack of delicious buttermilk pancakes. However, don′t think there isn’t some sort of catch. IHOP is holding a special charity promotion to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The charity raises money used to help some 165 children’s hospitals across the country. Since the pancakes are free, you are obliged to kick in a few bucks to help a worthy cause. This is almost as good as next week Tuesday′s Paczki Day 2011.

Probably not everybody is thrilled by free pancakes at IHOP. You can probably guess whom I going mention. Yes, needless to say, First Lady Michelle Obama. The Queen of Mean-Lean has been talking up a storm on childhood obesity. She even recently entered the fray on the subject of breast-feeding babies. There seems to be no limit to her push for a Nanny-State, governing what citizens do, and put inside, their bodies.

A short-stack of three IHOP buttermilk pancakes may surprise you should you bother to read the nutritional information, now required by law. While only 490 calories, the plate of pancakes have 18 grams of fat, 80 milligrams of cholesterol, 13 grams of sugar and a whopping 1,610 milligrams of sodium. That’s salt to you regular folks. So you can bet your last dollar-sized pancake that Michelle Obama won’t let her husband or children anywhere near an IHOP today.

So First Lady Michelle Obama may not like it, but today is National Pancake Day 2011 and you can get free pancakes at IHOP until 10pm in your local time zone. The free short stack of three buttermilk pancakes is part of a promotion to raise money for the charity, the Children′s Miracle Network, which supports some 165 children’s hospitals across the land. If Michelle Obama doesn’t like this, she better get ready because next week Tuesday is Mardis Gras, or also known as Fat Tuesday. For folks in the Detroit area near the city of Hamtramck, it′s better known a Paczki Day 2011. If the First Lady thinks pancakes are bad, just wait till those delightfully delicious fried paczkis, filled with raspberry jam or custard, start flying off of shelves.
