Dismissed as a tasteless attempt to profit off of the Regal marriage, Crown Jewels’ spokesman Hugh Pomfret insists they are a valid memento of the historical British moment. Still, the product earned the public scorn of Majesty Magazine editor Ingrid Seward last week.

“This is completely tasteless and really rather hurtful,” she said. “Prince William has a great sense of humour but this is a step too far. This is a cheap swipe to make money.”

Still, it’s tough not to find the humor in the Prince William rubbers. The Royal Wedding Condoms come in a regal purple packaging decorated with such blurbs as: “lie back and think of England” and “a better class of lovemaking.” However, reading a little closer, Crown Jewels’ website says their product is “not suitable for contraception or protection against STDs,” and is really just a novelty commemorative item.

“Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Souvenir prophylactics are a unique way to remember this great British occasion. All at Crown Jewels have worked tirelessly to craft these heirloom quality love sheaths. In years to come, they will be a timeless memento of a magical wedding day.”

But Crown Jewels isn’t stopping there. Their website boasts several new products in coming soon including Extra Strong Churchills and Extra Large Empires, and even an Everyday English Cuppa variety! So what do you think of Crown Jewels and their Royal Wedding condoms? Offensive and tasteless? Or funny and harmless? After all, this isn’t the first time political figures have had prophylactics branded after them. Let me know your thoughts on the Prince William rubbers in the comment section after you check out the pictures and video below!
