A move to draft Keith Olbermann to run for Senate is underway. With the announcement of Sen. Joe Lieberman retiring after serving four terms as a U.S. Senator from Connecticut, a Daily Kos blogger, ‘Stranded Wind’, is championing the fired MSNBC host. But will a draft Olbermann movement go anywhere? With the White House trying to appear toned down after the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, is Keith Olbermann just too plain caustic to get elected?

Unfortunately, in this day and age, anybody can fake their way into appearing qualified to be a U.S. Senator. Just look at how folks in Minnesota decided that has-been comic writer and failed radio talk host, Al Franken, was sufficient enough to get elected. So far, the ‘movement’ has 500 friends on it’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Last Friday, Keith Olbermann abruptly announced that it was his final show. After eight years on MSNBC as a political commentator, Olbermann said it was “too much”. His program was the highest rated for MSNBC, which, as Bernie Goldberg described last night on “The O’Reilly Factor” is like saying he’s the tallest midget in the room. MSNBC ranks 28th on cable ratings where as Fox News Channel ranks fourth after USA Network, ESPN and TNT.

Few in the Lame Street Media challenged the slant and failings of MSNBC. David Zurawik of the Baltimore Sun wrote an article yesterday (see link below) where he calls out Olbermann for what he was, reckless and a smear artist. I do take some exception to Zurawik referring to Olbermann in the same light as Sen. Joe McCarthy, primarily since, as we know now following the collapse of the Soviet Union, McCarthy was right! The Federal government was riddled with Communists and spies. On the other hand, Olbermann was never right about anything.

Keith Olbermann was just a cheap smear artist. The only ‘facts’ he would quote from were from groups like the Center for American Progress or the Center for Constitutional Rights, both funded through the George Soros umbrella organization, the Tides Foundation. His nightly rants were of the most caustic tone and he relished in dragging honest, God-fearing people through the mud Olbermann himself created.

So it is no wonder that a Daily Kos blogger, named ‘Stranded Wind’, would want to draft Keith Olberman to run for Senate. ‘Stranded Wind’ is aptly named, as MSNBC and the Daily Kos are like stagnant water. Full of bugs, sludge and smelly things. Unfit for human consumption. A move to draft Olbermann to run for the seat in Connecticut which Joe Lieberman is retiring from will probably go nowhere. There is too much dirt in Olbermann’s past that can be used in a campaign. While the White House is calling for civility following the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, MSNBC continues to be as bombastic as ever. Last night’s tribute to Olbermann by Lawrence O’Donnell was just too much! His “The Last Word’ program replaces Olbermann’s “Countdown” while ‘The Ed Show’ takes O’Donnell’s 10pm time slot. Who cares? Nobody watches them anyway!
