A one time Presidential hopeful is looking to get back into politics just four years after losing his Senate seat. Former Senator George Allen may challenge Jim Webb in 2012 for the seat that he lost back in 2006. Politico is reporting that Allen may announce his candidacy anytime.
Allen may be seeing the tide turn back to the GOP after seeing it shift blue in 2006 and 2008 when Obama surprisingly won the state. Even though he lost in 06′, Allen has remained a popular figure in Virginia and barely lost to Jim Webb, despite his “macaca” moment.
I won’t get into what his “macaca” moment was but you can read briefly about it here.
Coupled with the fact that the Commonwealth of Virginia has been trending back towards the GOP and sitting Senator Jim Webb may not run, the likelihood of a George Allen Virginia Senate candidacy is probable.

Unlike the Democrats, Republicans are forgiving people. They give everybody a second chase.

It is not so much forgiveness, but his lack of wisdom or inability to learn that is problematic. He used the term macaca in public twice. Once is stupid, but to do it twice is someone that simply cannot learn.
If that doesn’t bother people, his interest in Barr Pharmaceuticals should, since they are the American manufacturers of the morning after pill.

@Andy: That seems to be our downfall
