This morning, his school chum, Zack Osler, appeared on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ and said “He [Jared Lee Loughner] did not watch TV, he disliked the news, he didn’t listen to political radio, he didn’t take sides, he wasn’t on the left, he wasn’t on the right.” Osler went on to say “The Zeitgeist documentary had a profound impact on Jared Loughner’s mindset.” ABC News reporter Ashleigh Bansfield talked with Zack Osler, who says that at one time, he was Jared Loughner’s “best friend”. So what is the film ‘Zeitgeist’ about?

The documentary “Zeitgeist: The Movie”, in short, is an anti-religion, anti-Capitalist film calling for the replacement of our entire world political-economic system with a Socialist Utopia. It chronicles a version of history that demonstrates how Mankind created religion, and how a greedy power structure has been established over the centuries to keep the masses in slavery. The movie also adheres to many notions popular in extremist groups about how the U.S. government under George W. Bush engineered the 9/11 attacks as part of a wider plot to further expand power and control, leading to a New World Order.

Many particulars in ‘Zeitgeist: The Movie’ appeal to people of all political persuasions. The film highlights Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), popular among Libertarians and Tea Party folks, on Paul’s take on the tragedy of fiat currency not backed by gold or silver. The 9/11-Truthers find comfort, as well, in the film’s claims. There is certainly a strong pro-union element in the documentary series as it blasts Capitalism in general.

With it’s first release on the Internet in 2007, “Zeitgeist: The Movie” has been added to since then. In addition, the film’s producer, Peter Joseph, founded ‘The Zeitgeist Movement’ in 2008, which now has chapters all over the world. Thousands of members an enthusiasts visit their website daily. The New York Times and Huffington Post have even covered “Zeitgeist Day’. Also known as ‘Z-Day’, this past year’s was held on March 13, 2010 with over 2,000 ‘events’ held in 70 countries. By the way, Peter Joseph is not his full name. He refuses to reveal his last name to protect his family.

These ‘Z-Day’ events included showings of ‘Zeitgeist: The Movie’ in homes and theaters or other public gatherings, as well as lectures, conferences and ‘street activism’. In league with The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM) is the Venus Project led by Jacques Fresco, a social engineer who has a plan for building a sustainable, Resource-Based Economy and a global Utopia.

The plan calls for declaring all world resources as a common ‘heritage’ an doing away with any artificial boundaries to access them. These resources would then be used globally, under our new enlightened leadership, which would evolve a “cybernated society” that will “outgrow the need for all political local, national, and supra-national governments as a means of social-management.” That sounds just wonderful, doesn’t it?

Needless to say, a main objective of the Venus project is: “#12. Assisting in stabilizing the world’s population through education and voluntary birth-control to conform to the carrying capacity of the earth.” Great! But, what happens if after the “carrying capacity of the earth” has been established, people are not conforming voluntarily fast enough? This translates into one thing, De-Population. I like the last condition, #18, best — “Finally, preparing people intellectually and emotionally for the possible change that lie ahead.”

Sorry, as Derrick Flint told the leaders of GALAXY, a Utopian group bent on world domination in the movie “Our Man Flint”, “You’re idea of Utopia isn’t mine.” While some parts, like the need for high speed rail, may be attractive to many, it’s all part of the design to appeal to a broad base.

Part of The Zeitgeist Movement and Venus Project justification for how they accomplish this Utopia is how history showed during World War Two that a national economy could be focused and managed by government for good. So to in the Utopia of the future, ‘the needs of the many’ will set the agenda for those committees overseeing resources and industry in determining what gets the priority for being produced. And since the ultimate goal is to reduce the world’s population substantially, down to somewhere between one-half to two billion people, then there will be plenty of resources around for the lucky, The Chosen few.

The Zeitgeist Movement, spawned by “Zeitgeist: The Movie”, clearly falls in line with the Progressive mindset, encouraged by those like Margaret Sanger, John Dewey and George Bernard Shaw. To create a soft tyranny, an enlightened despotism, which would solve all our problems and take care of the citizens. This is what Zach Osler, who knew Jared Loughner well, has revealed during his interview with Ashleigh Bansfield on ABC’s “Good Morning America”. Osler claims that “The Zeitgeist documentary had a profound impact on Jared Loughner’s mindset.”
