On the very night after the shooting of State Representative Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat group called 21st Century Democrats sent out an email blast with links that led straight back to its website on which was prominently featured a donate now button. Now, only a few days later, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is also using the shooting to raise funds. Shockingly, disgustingly, leftists are using this incident to raise money.
As I reported on Sunday, only hours after the shooting, the group 21st Century Democrats was preparing to send out a letter playing at sympathy for those fallen and injured. The email blast immediately blamed Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement and then cynically invoked religion by asking for supporters to share their “thoughts and prayers” at the 21st Century Democrats website.
A link to the group’s website was then provided and if clicked upon a large button asking visitors to “Donate Now” is unavoidable. Sadly, the group not only used this crime to push its anti-Palin, anti-Tea Party message but also tried to make money from it.
This group is no fringe group. It claims to be a “grassroots” organization, but like most left-wing groups in America it was created by some powerful Democrats and was not created at the grassroots level at all. As it happens, 21st Century Democrats was created by powerful Democrat Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa, and now former Representative Lane Evans of Illinois with a little help from well-known left-wing pundit Jim Hightower. None of these folks are very grassrootie, for sure.
Now, only two days after the crime in Arizona, the Senate’s self-proclaimed “independent,” Bernie Sanders of Vermont — who’s also a self-proclaimed socialist — has himself sent out a fundraising letter and his didn’t make an attempt to hide behind God. Sanders’ letter was a straight out plea for cash played against the incident.
Sanders letter said in part:
Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country. I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.bernie.org. There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me. Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.
Could any of this be more outrageous? The left in America is using this criminal tragedy to make money for themselves and to push their political agenda.
Simply unbelievable.

todd I don’t belive anything you write anymore. It all will require independent checking as you have degenerated into distorting and spinning. You people who write these lead articles should present mostly the facts, with just a little commentary at the end, not embedd the entire article with your biased agenda. We all know which of you are heavily biased and which ones are fast and loose with the truth. You underestimate us if you think you can just write this crap and be believed just because you say so. Why not just go back to the mill you came from, as your making this site look bad.

You keep saying it, Bri Bri. But I just don’t know why you think I should care if you “believe” me “anymore”? You never DID “believe” me in the first place so I haven’t lost a thing, here. And if you DID start believing me I’d have to worry I was going off track.
Bye, bye little Bri Bri.

see todd this disrespectfulness is the real you. You’re not a nice person at all and should not have any serious responsibilities here.
January 11th, 2011 at 9:55 pm
You crack me up, sir. After all the names you’ve called me — over the last few weeks especially — and I’M the one who isn’t “nice.” Seriously. Do you have any capability at introspection at all??

lisab your another one. You said you were an emergency room doctor in a catholic hospital, a lawyer, a first grade teacher at various times. Who among you is honest here about anything?

Never heard of 21st Century Democrats. Have definitely heard of the infamous Tea Party Express. Full text of their beg-a-thon here:

Uh yeah, gee, wasnt this discussed a few days ago and it turns out most of these websites, right or left, all have some form of request for donations regardless of the issue ?
You guys are getting fcking ridiculous
January 12th, 2011 at 8:33 am
Yes, on their websites, where they have always been. I am talking about the Tea Party Express turning an email about the Tucson tragedy into a fundraising beg-a-thon.

“I am talking about the Tea Party Express turning an email about the Tucson tragedy into a fundraising beg-a-thon.”
uhh, once again, yeah, we discussed this and it turned out that this is a stock part of as large scale e mails regardless of issue.
I told you that I dont blame them because lawyers cost money and the left will probably file a shtload of suits against them and litagate as much useless crap as they can.
Still, none of this has anything to do with the fact that the sheriff is an idiot.
Hes on record being contemptuous to the right and voicing blatant insubordination for the law.
When Brewers law was passed he was on record saying he would not enforce it.
His job is to uphold the law, not interpret or make it or give his political opinions.
Thats what this about.
Not fundraising.
He needs to sit down and shut up already and I’m surprised someone from the upper echelons of the democratic party has not asked him to do so.
Hes an embarrassment to the left, hes not doing you guys any favors.
This fcking loonatic was non political with only a few dem connections in his past. registerd as an independent, didnt vote in the last two elections, and did not subscribe to Rush, Palin, O’Reilly or any right wing rhetoric as I highly doubt his political life included anything more than what he heard on the 6:00 news for 1/2 an hour every night.
So lets knock of this bullsht you all have drummed up just to give you a sense of comfort.
Its really sickening.
Were 5 days into this and it just keeps getting worse and worse when the bottom line is that this guy was a rogue nut influenced by his own derainged world.
You could say anything to this loon and he’d probably interpret it as reason to shoot.
Knock it off already, ass-holes

Yeah Brian Talk about being disrespectful…
January 13th, 2011 at 8:16 am
Faye regarding you, you talked about working with patients in a mental facility in a somewhat jockular fashion, so yes there is a little joke about the staff becoming a bit like the patients and the patients becoming a bit like the staff if you work there long enough. Is that disrespectful? Bear in mind you were already teasing me as well before I even said anything. I think its good if you did work to help people, but its nothing compared to the insults people hurl at me here. I thought you liked to banter around. There is no mean insult in what I said. Mr. Martini refers to the Jack Nicholson character in the day room in the movie that I am sure we all saw if you lived in the US. So are you sure that is offensive? I see that as comparing apples and oranges, again
