Hey guess what? While you weren’t looking, while you were paying attention to the election and to taxes and bizarre behavior by President Obama, the democratic congress passed the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act” because as Michelle Obama says, “We can’t just leave it up to the parents.”
Making sure kids eat right that is. Now with this legislation becoming law, the feds have the power to regulate what type of food your kids can eat at school even in the vending machines. Mrs. Obama spoke at the signing ceremony for the bill and declared that most parents are trying very hard to monitor what their children eat. They’re cutting down on desserts, and trying to increase fruits and vegetables. But….
There’s always a but with these people. Don’t worry though. If you can’t make sure your kids are eating right, the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act” will do it for you. If you had planned to have your child break the Guinness Book Record for being buried in something larger than a piano case you’re out of luck. Michelle Obama isn’t going to let that happen.
Within the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act” you’ll find all kinds of goodies. For instance, a new pilot program for “organic foods” in our kids schools, $4.5 billion in increased spending on school food programs, and The Department of Agriculture will design new school nutrition standards. Yummy!
The First Lady has been a fierce defender of your child’s health and weight since entering the White House. Whew! That’s just one less thing you’ve got to worry about as a parent. Pretty soon we won’t have to make one decision during our daily lives. These folks will take care of everything. Cradle to grave.
Because as Michelle Obama says, “We can’t just leave it up to parents.”

Someone needs to tell this shameless hypocrite to shut her pie-hole
Her own rear end resembles the back of a bus

She could have said..”We are going to work with parents to provide healthy choices to their little demon seed”, or words to that effect. But no, “We can’t leave it up to parents”.
This is how the elitists think. The sweating masses just can’t decide for themselves. I wonder if sooner rather than later they will decide not to teach them to read. All the better to control them later on.

Mt first comment was off the cuff.
Who my fooling.
The reach has already extended to happy meals minus the toy, regulations on tran fats.
I mena really, if the whole countrys gonna have to be a part of Obamacare doesnt it make sense that they would want to eliminate as much potential expenditure as possible ?
“Oh, the blood test on your kid show elevated enzymes and collesteral, carbs and refined sugars. His poop floats, that means its full of fat. So, were going to have to deny your request because our data shows you’ve been feeding your kid outside the guidelines”
Who gives a fck ? Pretty soon I’ll be lucky if I can afford McDonalds or anything at the store.

Michelle Obama should lead by example and begin a daily weigh-in and measurement of her butt.
December 13th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Yeah but Andy we all know its herditary.
We first have to determine by background and geneology if the big butt is in fact a result of diet or race.
Its the ice cream I see them (Obamas) shoving in their face that kinda gets to me.
I’ll bet from now on were going to be seeing less and less of those Baskin Robbins photo ops
December 13th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Shoot let’s impose an adipose check on EMT’s/schoolteachers and every member of Congress…
Chrissy Matthews has a problem with Christie and his weight but had NO problem working for fatty fat TipstersO’Neil…
I despise hypocrits

December 13th, 2010 at 9:35 pm
Well, since they live off our tax dollars in the White House then I think we should tell them they’re not allowed to have any fatty foods there. We the people can’t just leave it up to the parents.
C’mon, really, they are creating such a nanny state, such a dependency on the government, that we are going to have to check in with them for every single action we want to do. They are slowly eroding our freedoms. Government control of our healthcare, medical records, energy, cars, banks accts., travel history, etc., etc., etc. Where does it stop with these freaks?
Since they want to do it all for us, I want to know when she’s going to start changing diapers too…
December 13th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Oh yeah, I agree, there is some junk in the trunk…
December 14th, 2010 at 6:38 am
Having schools serve healthier food to the second fattest nation in the world – OH THE HUMANITY!
If you want to keep your kids fat, unhealthy and diabetes-ready then just send them with a packed lunch, simple as that.
December 14th, 2010 at 6:47 am
Well Snow, how long before packed lunches are banned? As usual liberals can’t see the forest for the trees.
Nobody wants their kids fat or suffering from diabetes. The point is we don’t need the freaking government to do it for us.
You can find “good intentions” in almost anything government does, that isn’t the point. But for you guys it’s enough.
December 14th, 2010 at 7:35 am
They’re not going to ban school lunches, that’s just a hyperbole, and tin-hat type thinking. What’s wrong with school serving healthier food? The government isn’t trying to control what kids eat, just what schools serve. Like I said, if you want them to keep eating pizzas and challupas then just pack it in their lunches.
December 14th, 2010 at 7:39 am
We have about 400,000 obesity related deaths per year, which is just behind smoking at 435,000 per year.
http://www.doctorslounge.com/primary/articles/obesity_death/
Fat, unhealthy food is poison whether you choose to see it that way or not. Should we allow our kids to smoke in schools, just because we shouldn’t have the gubmit control that as well?
December 14th, 2010 at 7:48 am
Republicans are constantly behind anything that f*cks with the schools.
They want to make sure school keep serving fatty, unhealthy foods so that kids can grow up to be fat and lazy.
Speaking of the government controlling schools, I’m sure you’ve heard of No Child Left Behind, passed by your Lord and savior, right? That act cuts important curriculum, like art, P.E. and history out of many schools, it forces teacher to teach to a test, and it keeps our brightest kids from really shining. Also, you guys are always behind cuts to school funding.
Let me guess, if we keep our kids fat, stupid and lazy then they’re more likely to vote Republican when they grow up, amIrite?
December 14th, 2010 at 7:56 am
Her butt looks like the average black womans–something that everyone seems to be trying to buy.
December 14th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
I think Mrs. Obama has said several times that parents have the ultimate responsibility over their children, so this statement that everyone is freaking out about probably has some additional context to it that is being ignored (as usual).
And if you lived where I lived and saw how many people and their children were frighteningly obese…you’d realize too there are some seriously irresponsible parents out there. At least at school now, the kids will hopefully eat a bit more nutritiously. I am not kidding, I was stunned to see this when we moved to NC this year. Especially coming from Colorado, where so many people are really exercise-oriented.
All that said, this one from Ron is pretty funny!…”Ron Says: Well, since they live off our tax dollars in the White House then I think we should tell them they’re not allowed to have any fatty foods there.”
December 14th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
Snow Crash: “Fat, unhealthy food is poison whether you choose to see it that way or not.”
And the three main ingredients – salt, fat, and sugar – are increasingly found in higher levels in processed, frozen, and prepared foods. Basically, the kind of convenience and restaurant food so many of us eat these days.
If you want to read a really interesting book on how a combination of these three ingredients is as addictive as a drug, I suggest reading “The End of Overeating.”
It’s an excellent book; you’ll learn a lot about how the food industry develops this food. They even have made processed food “easy to chew”…because Americans are getting too lazy to want to chew more than a few times!

@ #14 Snow,
The point is the power the government is using to reach into our lives, and the expenses that it incurs while doing it, some very unnecessary or not as important as other issues. If it doesn’t stop then they will eventually control everything little by little. They are over-reaching, growing and opening up new offices for every type of issue in the country, turning it into a nanny state, micro-managing everything they touch, and it always turns out to fail.
If you are worried about the school budget why don’t you advocate for illegals to pay for their children’s school out of pocket? They are getting paid off the books, not paying into the system, and their children are being educated off the producers that are paying into the system. Think about all the extra money the school systems would have if they cut that expense.
We want limited government. Rid it of all the unnecessary offices, departments, employees, astronomical salaries, pensions, spending etc. If you think parents can continue to feed their children fatty foods if they wish by packing their lunches then the same holds true about parents packing lunches from home so their kids don’t eat the school lunches (if they choose), which is more of a reversion to rugged individualism.
Again, just like with healthcare, a more modest solution would have been appropriate, but the obamas are out of touch with the country.
According to your logic school lunches make kids turn out to be fat & lazy? I think alot more goes into that outcome than just school lunches. Do you consider the parents when it comes to the outcome of children(personal responsibility)? As far as cutting extra-curricular activities & art / music programs, that’s been going on for the last 20 years, it didn’t start with former President Bush, and in retrospect he did a hell of a job better compared to this nincompoop we have now!
December 14th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
I am shocked. I went and looked up my elementel and high school cafeteria menus and they are actually serving worse, cheap, skimpy, food now than when I went there. I thought they had district nutritionists put together healthy menus. They are literally eating tray baked protien nuggets, cheap pizza knockoffs, cheap pasta dishes(I mean cheap, celery is like the meat). When I was in high school you got coated pork chops, potatoes au gratin, gravey, peas, cherry cobbler, rolls, and apple sauce, milk, and for 15 cents extra they gave you a second baked coated porkchop. It tasted good too! Now you get basically a dappy meal that is so pale there are NO phytoantioxidants in it. zero. and often its provided by some vendor. They don’t even serve tuna fish sandwitches anymore. I recently tried to get lunch in one college cafeteria and they got rid of it, replacing it with fast food taco, pizza, franchises and one really anemic wilted poor choice teeny tiny salad bar, with part of it sogging on the floor. What has happened?
December 14th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
I didn’t know they have schools where you come from brian…
December 14th, 2010 at 10:55 pm
“What has happened?”
the national school lunch program has gone way downhill in recent years.
not only is it under funded, at $2.68 per meal, but fast food vendors are held to far higher standards of cleanliness. for all of michelle’s propaganda her hubby has failed the public schools in many areas, this being one of them.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I think this is a real issue.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:17 am
@Ron,
I just don’t see the problem with having schools serve healthier lunches. I don’t believe that this will lead to the government banning sack lunches. Obesity is a real problem here and though I don’t believe this will solve all the child obesity problems, it certainly wouldn’t hurt and in my opinion it’s a step forward.
Where was all the Republican outrage when the government truly took control of school with NCLB? My wife is a teacher and she has seen the direct result of this disaster. It opens the doors for teachers to cheat their students through (which has happened many times now) because teachers are more obligated. It has forced schools to get rid of, or cripple subjects like P.E., art, history, etc. It forces teacher to teach for a test, it holds some of the brightest students back – it’s a real disaster but you didn’t see any conservative outrage when they pretty much controlled every important aspect of school, yet you see outrage when it comes to having schools serve healthier lunches. I just don’t get it.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:19 am
for all of michelle’s propaganda her hubby has failed the public schools in many areas, this being one of them.
Go ahead and take the low road, blame Obama for something that has been a problem for far longer than he’s been in office, but at least Michelle is trying to do something about it. You guys just want to control every other aspect of school but keep the kids eating poorly.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:52 am
“You guys just want to control every other aspect of school but keep the kids eating poorly.”
Are you fcking kidding me ?
The left wants to control everything our speech to how we wipe our asses.
gimme a break.
The school lunches are not poor as much as are the sht in the vending machines which I dont think are needed at all.
Generations went to school and did just fine without them.
