I was trolling through the news services this morning and ran across another “big pig? story. This impressive beast, which is being called “Monster Pig?, was killed back on May 3 2007 by Jamison Stone, an 11-year-old Alabama boy. This critter weighed about 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. Although this hog is just a tad bit smaller than THIS 1,100 pound porker killed near Atlanta, GA, back in January, it’s still remarkable.

Jamison shot Monster Pig eight times with a Smith & Wesson .50- caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot. His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast with 5- inch tusks decided to charge.

When it was all said and done, the folks at Lost Creek Plantation, a family owned and operated commercial hunting preserve located in the foothills of Mt. Cheaha, AL, had to cut down a few trees and bring in a backhoe to haul Jamison’s kill out of the woods.

Just in case you’re wondering, Monster Pig’s head is being mounted by a taxidermist, and Jamison’s dad is having sausage made from the rest of the animal, of which they expect to get 500 to 700 pounds.

Jamison’s proud papa has set up a Website that has some additional photos and information available.
