In a shock to ABC’s hit television show, Dancing with the Stars, Sara Evans dropped out of the show this week. The star country western singer just filed for divorce last week from her husband of 13-years, Craig Schelske. The couple has three young children.
In her court filing, Sara cited abuse, excessive drinking, and adultery. She alleges photos of Schelske having sex with other women, and basically called him a drunken lout.
Although she was clearly not one of the top competitors, Sara Evans has a loyal fan base that kept her in the show. In part, this was a function of an organized base of conservatives who actively supported her each week through the telephone voting system. Sara Evans has donated time and money to Republican candidates and causes for a long time. Even Tom Delay got into her act, organizing support for her among Republicans who watch the show.
