MUNICH, GERMANY - SEPTEMBER 18: Drunk visitors lie in the grass during the opening day of the Oktoberfest at Theresienwiese on September 18, 2010 in Munich, Germany. 2010 marks the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest. The Oktoberfest tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the October 12th marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates. The main event of the original Oktoberfest was a horse race. Nobody wants to be on Facebook in this state! Basically, the software is a time-set plug-in that recreates tests police use including follow a moving finger or typing the alphabet backwards. If you attempt to access a restricted site such as twitter, facebook, gmail, or hotmail during late hours that you specify, you have to pass one of these tests to gain entrance!

“Nothing good happens online after 1 a.m.,” reads the company’s Web site. “Put an end to the embarrassment that follows regrettable, late night posts with 3 easy steps. Download and customize your test settings; pass a simple test to prove you’re of sound mind; post away, or, if you fail, maybe just go to bed.”

What’s more, if you fail entrance to Facebook, The Social Media Sobriety Test will update you status to read “(Name) is too intoxicated to post right now.” Yes, self-imposed embarrassment! Still, for some particularly vulnerable internet addicts, this tool may be the only way to avoid even more embarrassing comments made while under the influence.

What are the tests? Well, one demonstrated in the video below shows a moving circle on the screen. The simple objective is to keep your mouse within the unpredictable circle for the duration of the test. Too long outside and you fail. Unfortunately, unless you have an iPhone, this app can’t help the perils of drunk dialing or texting just yet. What do you think of this software? While a lot will no doubt actually use this program for its intended use, I have a feeling we’ll be hearing about a high number of pranks using the plug-in as well! Let me know what you think of The Social Media Sobriety Test in the comment section after you check out pictures and video on the product below!

From 00.00hours November 24, 2005 pubs and clubs will be able to take advantage of flexible licensing hours which in some cases will mean opening hours around the clock.
