The Democrats have tried a number of different tactics to try to slow the impending electoral deluge that most analysts predict will occur next week In a particularly unsavory gambit, they have decided that since they are unable to get very many of their own supporters to vote, they would abet a number of third party candidates, regardless of the policy positions of these minor party candidates.

In a New York Times article, a number of examples are listed. Robo-calls have been placed to Republicans who reside in Mary Bono Mack’s House district in California on behalf of the American Independent Party candidate arguing that voters should show Washington what a true conservative looks like. The ad was paid for by Steve Pougnet, the Mayor of Palm Springs, who coincidentally is the Democrat who is running against Ms. Bono. In another example, in suburban Philadelphia, volunteers for a Democratic candidate helped the third-party candidate collect signatures to ensure that he would be on the ballot.
