There’s always an easy way to tell which candidate is desperate in political contests. They make outrageous charges that may very well make voters recoil. Well, Jack Conway may be about the most desperate candidate currently running. He is campaigning for Senator from Kentucky against Rand Paul and apparently is running an ad in Kentucky accusing his Republican opponent of mocking Christianity. See a video of the debate below.

The ad also alleges that Paul tied up a coed, tried to force her to smoke marijuana, and made her bow down in prayer before ‘Aqua-Buddha’. The woman in question has said that she never felt in any danger during the alleged incident, while Paul has denied that it occurred.

Why would Conway make this charge? It seems that in college at Baylor University, Paul belonged to a group that, according to the Democrat, belittled the school’s religious mission. I guess Conway thought that, although it was in an ad, it wouldn’t come up during the debate last night. Think again, Pookie.

Last night, the two candidates met in a televised debate.Paul stated that people who know him know him as a pro-life Christian. He then said that Conway ‘had descended into the gutter to attack my Christian beliefs.’ But Conway’s travails didn’t end there. The moderator asked him if he had any evidence that ‘Paul was not a Christian or not a good Christian?’ Conway’s response was that ‘that is not the issue.’

But Paul wasn’t done there. Rand Paul said ‘Jack, you should be ashamed of yourself. You should apologize. Have you no decency? Have you no shame?’ Conway lamely responded that values matter and asked Paul when it was okay to tie up a woman. This angered Paul even further. He replied that ‘You know, Jack, how I can tell that you’re lying? When your lips are moving… You embarrass this race. You accuse me of a crime from 30 years ago from anonymous sources ’ He then added, in a nice touch, ‘It does not profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul in the process.’ At the conclusion of the debate, Paul refused to shake his opponent’s hand, shown in the photo above.

What Conway should have known prior to airing this ad was that a candidate should never do this when he still has to face his opponent in a debate, or else the Hail Mary pass will get intercepted.
