People started comparing Kristi Noem to Sarah Palin as soon as she burst on the scene. However, Noem is quick to point out that she’s her own person and wants have South Dakotans representing South Dakota. Her confidence, independence and yes, her good looks, are all the more reason people are comparing her to the former vice-presidential candidate and political power-house.

Noem is the Republican candidate for South Dakota’s At Large Congressional District seat in U.S. House of Representatives. She is challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin. In the past three months, Kristi Noem has raised more than $1.1 million, doubling what her opponent has been able to raise.

Herseth-Sandlin will not be easy to beat. She’s a conservative democrat who won her last election with 70 percent of the vote. She also comes from a long line of South Dakota politicians, giving her the name recognition of an insider in political circles. Even so, Kristi Noem is fresh and refreshing. She’s smart, hard-working and NOT a democrat. She is a wife, mother, rancher, hunter and very busy lady. She’s running on Conservative values, cutting federal spending and repealing Obama’s health care law. She’s also promising NOT to vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

Kristi Noem is hammering Herseth-Sandlin on her association with Obama and the Democratic Party, even as Herseth-Sandlin is attempting to put distance between herself and the Obama Administration in the eyes of the people of South Dakota.
