We’re being invaded. President Obama plans to do something about it. No, I’m not talking about the invasion from the south by illegal aliens. I’m not talking about the invasion by Russian spies or even Islamic extremists. The invasion I’m talking about is by Asian Carp. Czar John Goss appointed by Obama to handle the problem, will move fast according to Dick Durbin.

CHICAGO - MAY 20: Fish in the Little Calumet River struggle to survive after being poisoned by the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee, which is made up of the Illinois department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and several other organizations May 20, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. Rotenone, a fish toxicant, was used to kill all of the fish in an approximately two-mile stretch of the river. The Committee was killing the fish to search for evidence of Asian Carp in the waterway. Efforts are being made to keep the invasive fish from entering the Great Lakes. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)

Sure all of those other invasions I spoke of are happening and are a clear and present danger to our country, but what’s most important is that we spare the natural wildlife of the Great Lakes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the Asian Carp nuisance is a problem. They are an invasive species that can completely decimate other species of fish. But is it really necessary to appoint an Asian Carp czar? Obama loves him some czars, doesn’t he?

Obama’s council on environmental quality announced the selection of Goss to assume the post. Senator Dick Durbin said this on a conference call with the council:

“This is a serious challenge, a serious threat,” Durbin said. “When it comes to the Asian carp threat, we are not in denial. We are not in a go-slow mode. We are in a full attack, full-speed ahead mode. We want to stop this carp from advancing.”

Wow. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the federal government had the same attitude towards other, more pressing issues? What it really boils down to is this, the Asian Carp can’t vote. More specifically they can’t vote Democrat. If they could, Durbin and Obama would be singing a different tune; if they could vote we wouldn’t in our wildest imagination see someone known as the Asian Carp czar.

John Goss will be in charge of making sure that tens of millions in federal money is spent efficiently. Of course the words federal money and efficiently rarely wind up in the same sentence except when describing what was hoped for or didn’t happen. All I can say to Obama’s Asian Carp czar is good luck with that one.
