Here is the video of a new sea creature discovered off the Florida coast near Palm Beach. The creature was filmed by an expert under-water photographer named Jay Garbose. Scientists at the Smithsonian have yet to positively identify the animal, which is pretty remarkable for something that is seven feet long swimming in plain view!
This sea serpent is getting ginned up in the media as a “sea monster” and is drawing comparisons to the mythical “Lock Ness Monster.” That is all very silly but good fun and it is positively an interesting video.
It was first thought to be a “Tigertail Sea Cucumber’ but that assessment has been discounted. This probably-new species is thought to be part of the “Nemertean Worm” family.
Maybe we can call this new species the “Liberal Sea Worm.”

Maybe we can call it the Republicans Are Dumb Worm

This is way too cool – and sort of a reminder that despite the fact that this is probalby one of the most travelled underwater areas of the world, a new species still managed to ellude us – so much for humans controlling all of nature!

??? Wow. Is absolutely everything somehow related to how “bad” “Neocons”, etc are? What will some people blame everything on when Bush/Cheney are no longer in the picture? Seems that villifying all things Republican/conservative has become so deeply self-ingrained and such a way of life for some that they do it as much as possible, whenever possible (whether it’s an opportunity taken or made) no matter how silly it might be – although the Democrats are, of course, behind hair loss.

Ha ha IM1. The great part about nature posts is they bring in unsuspecting liberals who get caught like a deer in tail lights by the Iraq Ad. It is all down hill from there for the poor fellows. The best our confused friend “lol” can come up with is “oh yeahhhhhh, you too.” Not surprising because a liberal with a sense of humor is about as rare as a Nemertean Worm.
May 4th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
MBT, so true! Do you think they will discover a new Big Bird species capable of swallowing this worm?
May 5th, 2007 at 8:44 am
It’s Carl Rove out for a swim… White, pasty, slimey… noo wait it’s World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, looking for a gold deblume to pay the salary of his girlfriend (odd… a heterosexual worm… a rare creature indeed, as most creatures of this ilk are found hiding deep in White House closets) or… YES the swelling in the head tells me it could be a Donaldus Rumsfeldus! A rare but ancient species of blood sucking worm left over from the Nixionian era, predating man and dinosaur… Or perhaps Ralphus Reedus, a two meter tall worm that has stubbornly denied the effects of evolution?
Damn difficult to pin down…
May 5th, 2007 at 9:09 am
That’s a better attempt but it still fails. For example, Karl Rove is fat while this worm is thin. The worm has no swelling in the head, so it isn’t Rummy by your own definition.
For humor to work well, the art must imitate life. But nobody expects you to be funny — see comment #4 about liberal humor.

Just shrivel up and go away… or lie and tell everyone your a libertarion… rather the otherway around… which his to say that everything related to what neocons do is bad.
??? Wow. Is absolutely everything somehow related to how “badâ€? “Neoconsâ€?, etc are? What will some people blame everything on when Bush/Cheney are no longer in the picture? whataAssMunch – I really tried to understand what you might be trying to say in #8 (as, after all, you did quote a thing I had said), however, I just couldn’t make much sense out of it, try as I might. I re-read what you said many times and pondered it, but nothin’. Maybe it’s just me, I dunno. I’d like to understand what you were getting at, though. Would you maybe be willing to enlighten a poor simpleton?
May 5th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
Ha ha. I’ve been reading this thread! Conservatives really are more funny!
May 5th, 2007 at 7:21 pm
IM1,
i think he’s saying everything neocons do is bad … what is a neocon btw? or more to the point what is the difference between a con and a neocon? to sheep i’m sure other sheep look different … are log cabin republicans neocons?
May 5th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
See #4. Liberals are unable to be funny. Think of our troll in those terms.
May 6th, 2007 at 12:29 am
lisab – S’okay if some think everything “neocons” in general, and me in particular, do is baaaad. Seems like that’s pretty much par for the course. If Bush resigned the Presidency, posted pictures of Cheney’s head on a platter on MoveOn.org, and joined the log Cabin Republicans, I doubt the attitudes of some towards things they consider conservative would change a whole lot.
Speaking of the LCR; I’m not sure if they would identify themselvrs as “neocons” or not. If they did, and if, as you imply, there’s not much difference between a neocon and a con, does that mean then that you think the Log Cabin Republicans are, or should be cons? Hmmm. I don’t agree with the LCR on much, but I don’t think they should be put in prison like you seem to be implying.:)
May 6th, 2007 at 11:11 am
IM1,
i wasn’t implying anything, i was asking.
i don’t know the difference between the groups.
is there a difference?
oh and if bush put cheney’s head on a platter he’d be criticized by those against the death penalty … including me!
May 6th, 2007 at 11:14 am
“i don’t know the difference between the groups.”
fyi, i’m actually not that political. i’m a social liberal, not a suffragette.
i only got involved on the hedgehog report because kerry disgusts me. i’m from MA, and he is a vile pompous ass
he is a good senator actually … but president was just over the line
May 7th, 2007 at 10:13 am
“neocon” is basically code for Jewish Republican.

Um. A deer in the tail lights? that seems like a pretty happy deer, being behind the car, and all. Learn your expressions. I can tell you from first hand experience that liberals have a wonderful sense of humor (we have to, being beaten down for the past eight or nine years or so…not even considering the ‘contract with america’), anyway, know your shit. And all of you, learn your spelling and grammar. Sheesh! Why is it that the blue states consider you stupid? What could it be?
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Kira, I back up a lot after running over liberals.
By the way, I submit respectfully that a “state” is not capable of thought. Liberals may be willing to sell their souls to big brother, but a geographical location is incapable of doing your thinking for you.
