Although this is a fluid situation, an article posted at the Telegraph claims that some of Ronald Reagan’s closest allies are jumping aboard the Fred Thompson express.
Thompson, a former Republican Senator from Tennessee, is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Lincoln Club (in Orange County), this Friday. Some political insiders believe that an official announcement of Thompson’s intentions to make a bid for the Republican nomination for President is right around the corner.
This is very good news for those of us that have been less than thrilled with the current field of Republican candidates. If Thompson does decide to enter the race, he will is the only conservative candidate in the bunch, and a much needed addition to list of potential nominees that could be best described as Republican-lite.
