Independence Day means a lot of things. And for each one of us it’s something different, something special. Men chosen by divine providence risked everything to declare that they would no longer live under the yoke of tyranny. Independence Day to me can be summed up in this picture. My son helping his daddy mow the grass.
On this Independence Day remember not only the major events that “made” this country what it is, but take time to remember the small events that “make” this country what it is.
Here’s some more interesting must reads for Independence Day from our friends.
Rush Limbaugh: A speech by his father entitled “Our Lives, Our Fortunes, Our Sacred Honor.”
Jammie Wearing Fool has the Declaration of Independence posted for a refresher.
Red State has a tremendous video of a veteran who testified at the Kagan hearing. A must see.
At Hot Air you can vote on the Obamateurism of the week.
Powerline has an annual post entitled “The Eternal Meaning of Independence Day”
The Gateway Pundit reminds us that “Freedom is not free”
Have a wonderful Independence Day everyone. God bless.

Fellow beigns, let’s act on good non-secular support of kindness, freed of the right or left. That’s the truth of July 4th celebration.

It means I have the right to get drunk, wave those little American flags with my nostrils while I throw M-80s at moonbats as they drive by on the freeway in their Obama stickered Hybrids.
I mean hey, isnt that pretty much what were doing 200+ years ago ?

Had Rush Limbaugh been alive in 1776, he would have been on the side of the British.
What Kagan did re: the military recruiters is pretty much the same as what the signers of the Declaration of Independence did, to my mind. Stood up for principles, no matter the power of the opposition.
The Declaration of Independence is sort of hard to understand. I don’t think that many people really know exactly what it says, esp. the list of grievances. So, for your edification and enjoyment, from one of the greatest Americans who ever lived:

“Stood up for principles, no matter the power of the opposition.”
ummmm … except she caved on her principles of being against our military the second the military stopped her funding
July 4th, 2010 at 4:09 pm
narrow view there. She had a responsibility to Harvard Law School and the greater University to continue bringing in funding. It would be malfeasance of her office to alienate funders to the point of cutting off the students and faculties funding. It shows when faced with reality she makes adjustments to her own personal political views, a sign of maturity if you ask me. Regardless of where she started politicially, she did the responsible thing for her constituency, the students and faculty of Harvard. I would consider that an asset. I am not interested in whether someone thinks in lockstep with me. I am interested in their survival capability, and ability to adapt and do what is right for others in the end. She passed that test really. Depends what you want. or Your level of intolerance.
July 4th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
no it is a sign that no matter what she does you blindly support her and the dems
July 4th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
“It shows when faced with reality she makes adjustments to her own personal political views, a sign of maturity if you ask me.”
Yeah, thats just what I want in my SCOTUS.
You hadda be 12 freaking years old to think that one up. And then you question others maturity ?
I want my supreme justices to leave their politics in their a$$es
July 4th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
well you may want a fundamentalist court that doesn’t respond to modernity. I want thinking sane acting people who hold the ideals of the constitution but also realistically respond to modernity. Our country has changed in 250 years and so has our technology, infrastructure, and globe. Should we go back to legalized slavaery, refuse to acknowledge a womans right over her own body, and so many other key issues in our personal lives. I think we are paying SCOTUS to hire a panel of experts to interpret our constitution in evolving times sensiblly. What you want Sharia law? Life, liberity, and pursuit of happiness are really vague terms, and they do need interpretation by people with good intentions. Personally, I think the media capture of our government is so great its upreapared to deal with it and vulnerable to it, ergo many of our problems. However the internet is a somewhat democratizing tool, though vulnerable to missuse as well. Anybody that serves in the cour brings in some politics. What one is someone who is adaptive and sensible and fair.
July 4th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
I have been pretty neutral on Kagan, but I notice she is sensibly adaptive which is a good thing. The supreme court is flawed to me with its lifetime appointment system. I don’t see why we should be so locked into one set of personalities. I am not even sure Kagan is liberal as she already is soliciter general of the United States. She is already one of them. They aren’t going to let some hippie be Solicitor General you know. I think she is more like an accountant than anything else, or an intellectual fundie.
July 4th, 2010 at 4:41 pm
“they do need interpretation by people with good intentions.”
the dems and you do not have good intentions
you intend to take our liberty,
obamacare and obama’s massive debts being the first steps
July 4th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
your just being a propagnadist here repeating quarter truths and twisting things around boldly as usual, But I don’t think its cute. Pick another to play your game with. Its boring. I didn’t create your life situation so don’t take it out on me.
July 4th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
“What you want Sharia law? ”
Okay, You’ve said some dumb sht before, so far thats the dumbest yet.
“Life, liberity, and pursuit of happiness are really vague terms, and they do need interpretation by people with good intentions.”
No they dont. Its pretty simple.
The governement keeps us safe so we can pursue our dreams without them sticking their wand in everything.
Were all guaranteed the opportunity and pursuit, not the success.
Only problem is that you schmucks are trying to define “happiness” as a collective ideal.

If you fck like you debate you probably cant even stand pleasuring yourself.
You’re the damn king of looking for every trivial tributary you can to avoid actually rendering a discussion down to some truth.
You constantly go to ones ideology and use your ideological bigotry as a means to escape real productive debate.
As soon as some one puts your idiocy to rest, proves you wrong, you start explaining how their logic, inferior to yours, is why the discussion is not worth continuing.

Star Tek eh. Do you have t-shirt too or just the red spot?
July 4th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
“repeating quarter truths”
no they are absolute truths
obama and those who follow him seek to gain power for themselves without our consent
July 4th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
Brian;
“is the best way I can imagine where your coming from.”
You dont have the mental architecture to ever figure out where I’m coming from.
Case & point.
You’re stupid that you’re under the impression its my expletive vocabulary thats insulting to you when whats really going on is me metaphorically yanking your bermudas down to your ankles in public exposing your pink and white zitty a$$
July 4th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
No micky, you are just twisted.
July 4th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
Brian.
“bascially your in a Romulan ship with a Romulan dashboard, is the best way I can imagine where your coming from.”
I guess it better than being a part of the Borg, the collective.
Unless you’re boinking Jeri Ryan. Whom I doubt would give you the time of day.
Obamas next campaign slogan wont be “Hope & Change”, it’ll be “Resistance is Futile”
July 4th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
“No micky, you are just twisted.”
The difference is that I’m aware of the fact I’m twisted.
You’re dangerous because you think you’re not
July 4th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
I don’t think you are really that aware, for if you were, you would be nicer to people and self censor.
