John McCain did something fantastic in South Carolina on Wednesday. He made a glib joke about bombing Iran. Video below. And he didn’t just say it — he sang “Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran” to the tune of a Beach Boys hit.
John McCain “Bomb Iran” (Video)
McCain will be universally condemned, of course, by those feigning to be shocked and concerned. The ninnies said the same thing about Reagan. Reagan famously threatened the Soviet Union during the Cold War by uttering into a microphone: “the bombing starts in five minutes.” Good for Ronald Reagan. Good for John McCain.
The joke isn’t particularly funny. That isn’t the point. What it does is hearken back to a time when America’s men celebrated their testosterone rather than sensitizing it in our new feminized culture. That’s not a bad thing at all.

This was a parody song that came out during the Carter era Iran hostage crisis, though undoubtedly more will be made of it than its worth.

Maybe we all might be correct to just chuckle at this, but this was a big gaffe for McCain in my view.
If he were to be the nominee, and do something like this in the general election, in this era of YouTube, it would be a major media storm of the highest proportions.
It may not be fair, but that is the way it is, and as much as I admire John McCain, I have long been concerned about his penchant for flying off the handle or saying something outrageous.

What a bunch of [mean people] you people are.

There is absolutely no good reason to bomb Iran, other than the corrupt propaganda lies (the very same WMD lies as before the Iraq war, and once again [you] are all to eager to see people get killed on the flimsiest of excuses.)
This is a great summary of the lies we’re being told about Iran:
http://www.newsnation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3031
The truth is that Iran has no nuclear weapons, they’re not working on nuclear weapons, they have every legal right to develop nuclear power, they are signatories of the non-proliferation treaty, they are not in violation of the treaty, the treaty allows them to develop nuclear energy, it was America who told Iran to develop nuclear power a few years ago, and even nowadays American economists acknowledge the fact that Iran needs nuclear power because they don’t produce enough oil to cover their own growing demand and still have enough to export. All over the world people are looking at nuclear energy as a cheap, clean alternative to fossil fuels. Why shouldn’t Iran? What right does Bush have to tell Iran not to develop nuclear power? Iran is not breaking any laws, but Bush is.

These are the people who [you] want to kill:

It’s a joke, Rob. Nobody wants to bomb Iran. Narcissists like you are typically unable to follow short reading passages because they intepret words differently than the rest of us, through a complex of mirrors that are all turned inward.
That said, you need help and I suggest getting it. Your hate speech is similar to the Virginia school shooter before the rampage. Everyone wonders why they didn’t kick him out of school sooner.
Culturally, we don’t look after our neighborhoods the way we did in the past. The fabric in our society is thinner. But it doesn’t need to be that way on the Right Pundits blog. That is a long way of saying I will do the personally responsible thing that was not done in Virginia, namely, that you will be banned from our campus if you are unable to engage in intellegent conversation. I don’t have a lot of hope that you will succeed.

Corey, no question this is a major political goof, which would pain me a lot if I actually thought McCain had much of a chance anymore. But since he doesn’t anymore, how refreshing to hear old school bravado. My post is not a political assessment, but rather, a cultural one.

Hahahaha… Go ahead and ban me, McCain. It wouldn’t be the first time I singlehandedly proved every single one your conservative ideologies false, false, false. [really really mean people from Germany] always end up banning me after I took apart every one of their lies and they are at a total loss for words because none of their ideological claims ever holds any water.
I find it particularly funny how dishonest you are in your response to me post. You claim I am the hateful one who is like the Virginia shooter, yet I am the pacifist who condemns violence and exposes war for what it really is: a criminal act of mass murder. The Nuremburg Tribunals (the basis for the Geneva Conventions) stated that the greatest war crime of all is the act of war itself.
The Nazis were convicted at Nuremberg for starting a war… the very same war crime Bush and co committed. No wonder Bush is terrified of the International Criminal Court. He fears one day he may end up in a cell at The Hague.
You are clearly lying (once again) when you claim that the guy who wrote the original blog post about McCain’s “bomb Iran” joke was only kidding when he said that “ninnies” would “feign shock” at McCain’s comment, and that he wholeheartedly endorces such macho talk, just like Reagan’s threats against the Soviet Union.
The blog poster clearly was not kidding when he wrote “What it does is hearken back to a time when America’s men celebrated their testosterone rather than sensitizing it in our new feminized culture. That’s not a bad thing at all.” which is clearly an endorsement of the idea that we ought to bomb Iran.
You know it, and I know it. But because the arguments I presented against bombing Iran are air tight, all you can do is be intellectually dishonest (as you guys are all the time. Your ideology requires it because it constantly clashes with reality) and threaten to ban me.
Well, go ahead. We both know that the reason why you want to ban me is not the words I used (read your post about Imus and the subject of Free Speech) but the fact that what I say makes a hell of a lot more sense than your fanatical [mean people from Germany] ramblings and evolution denials.
April 19th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
McCain- Its too bad that we’ve over played our hand in the Middle East to the point that a statement like the one your namesake has made is just a joke.
April 19th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Hey, McCain… I see now you’re censoring my posts. Funny. Tell me your thoughts on Free Speech again.
I love that you deleted the word “neanderthals” – I guess neanderthal is a dirty word to you evolution deniers, huh?
Hahaha…

Rob Says- “Hahahaha… Go ahead and ban me…
For once I find myself in complete agreement with Rob.
Good riddance!
April 19th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Rob has a surprising perspective on his own importance. It actually takes a little effort to “ban” people and who has the time? What I’ve done with Rob is gently placed him in pergatory so his comments will be reviewed when we get around to it and released if we remember to do it and if they don’t continue to violate the comment policy.
Who said anybody has a free speech right to hate speech on a commercial website? Goodness what a strange idea! In particular, the gratuitous and repetitious use of certain classically taboo phraseology is discouraged by the advertisers and adversely affects the experience of other guests. That’s really the problem. I actually find the content of Rob’s comments instructive for they inform us about how distorted can be a liberal’s thought processes. Just too bad he can’t clean up his potty mouth as he unknowingly reveals the true face of socialism.
April 19th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
McCain- I was unaware of the virtual purgatory option. That is a handy dandy tool for sure.
Cheers.

“That said, you (rob) need help and I suggest getting it.”
a few anger issues to resolve i’d say
“I actually find the content of Rob’s comments instructive for they inform us about how distorted can be a liberal’s thought processes….as he unknowingly reveals the true face of socialism.”
hey, he’s NOT with me … he actually makes my side look bad …. but i have narrowed down who he is
a.) a homeless person typing in a public library
b.) a tenured professor in gender studies
c.) one of my old boyfriends — current hubby excepted
d.) a crazy person, a schizo
tough call that
