On Tuesday, at the Virginia Tech campus, thousands of people showed up for the convocation being held in order to pay respects to those whose lives were tragically cut short during Cho Seung-Hui’s murderous rampage on Monday.
As the service proceeded, representatives of several religions made speeches and asked their respective “supreme authorities for assistance in coping with this most terrible situation. All of the usual deities were invoked, well, all except Jesus Christ.
To be honest, I was buzzing about town today taking care of a thing or three so I was unable to watch the event, and I just caught bits and pieces of it on the radio so I didn’t actually catch this myself. But leave it to the guys and gals over at World Net Daily to keep us informed on these things.

ok, perhaps you have a small point …
but, before you go off the deep end completely, not all Christians pray just to Jesus, and many would be uncomfortable openly praying in public. That muslims do is not a good thing in my book, it doesn’t offend me necessarily but is a little scary.
my general view, (yes i’m a yankee) is that paying respects in an open forum is different from a religious ceremony.

note i did say you had a point, albeit small, so i’m not anti-Christian. i’m just not comfortable with openly very religious ceremonies that are very church specific.

One day after editors of the New York Times announced the paper would not print the Mohammed cartoons because they did not want to offend devote practioners of the Religion of Peace, they published a photo of the Virgin Mary in cow dung “art” on the front page.
Anyone who doesn’t recognize PC America’s double standard when if comes to Christianity and other religions is blind.
Out here where I live, the same 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals that banned the Pledge of Allegiance as a separation of church and state issue, permitted public school districts to force pupils to adopt “Muslim” names, read the Koran and observe Ramadan, all in the name of cultural diversity.
The only Christain clergyman invited to speak at the observance is at best a pseudo Christian if he did not envoke the name of our Savior at a memorial for the murdered, most of whom died Christians despite the best efforts of the academe.

Pretty typical nowadays. Whatever you do, don’t utter the (gasp!) “J “word.

Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.
