The video is shocking. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the third most powerful politician in America, came under attack by Code Pink. The Far-Left, anti-war group founded by socialite millionaire, Jodi Evans, are upset with Pelosi and the Democrat Party for not delivering the goods. Despite all of their support, and cash, Barack Obama and the Democrat Party have had limited success so far since taking power in January, 2009. Code Pink, and their Far Left allies, wanted real change, a rapid and complete transformation of America. So far, they are disappointed with the progress of the Progressives.

Nancy Pelosi was heckled by Code Pink at the “America’s Future Now” conference which began this past Monday. A series of speakers called an uprising within the Progressive movement. Robert L. Borosage of the Campaign for America’s Future said, “This has been the greatest flurry of reform in 50 years, and yet through it we have grown more dissatisfied. The White House has been an uncertain trumpet.” Arianna Huffington said in her speech, “It’s clear that hope is not enough. What we need is Hope 2.0, and that is taking matters into our own hands.”

The 3-day conference itself was sponsored by Campaign for America’s Future, a branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Other speakers included former SEIU president, Andy Stern, Communist Party USA representatives Barbara Lee and William McNary. In addition to Robert Borosage, other DSA speakers were Ron Ruggiero, Robert Kuttner and Deepak Bhargava. Phil Angelides of the Apollo Alliance, former ‘green jobs czar, Van Jones, Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins of Green For All, and Jesse Jackson. In addition to Pelosi, other members of Congress also spoke, such as Alan Grayson (D-FL), Donna Edwards (D-MD) and Senator Tom Udall (D-NM). The cream of Far-Left crop.

This week may be the turning point in the relationship between the Democrat Party and the Far Left. We’ve already seen cracks in the Democrat Establishment with the Obama Administration and the Democrat Congress. Criticism over the stimulus being too small, health care not going far enough in providing a public option, the still on-going wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the continuation of Bush-era Patriot Act laws are a strong source of the internal angst.

In more recent weeks, the illegal immigration issue and the handling of the BP oil spill have only exasperated the tension between the Beltway Democrats and Left-wing extremists. Labor unions poured $10 Million dollars to defeat Blanche Lincoln to send a message to the DNC. The response from the White House was that the unions wasted their money.

Rosie O’Donnell called for Obama to nationalize British Petroleum during her satellite radio show on Monday. “I say seize their assets. Right now. Seize their assets today. Take over the [company]. I don’t care [how]. Issue an executive order. Call it socialism, call it communism, call it anything you want. Let’s watch Rush Limbaugh explode on TV. Seize the assets. Take over BP.” How about we call it tyranny or dictatorship, too, while we’re at it?

Will the message of this week’s conference spread throughout the Progressive/Socialist community? Is Code Pink heckling Nancy Pelosi just the beginning of a larger struggle within the Democrat Party? Will the Progressives, Democrats and Obama quicken the pace now that defeat in the 2010 Elections in November may squash their agenda? Stay tuned, citizens. Same Moonbat Time! Exactly right.

There’s a reason that gay rights advocates heckle Obama over DADT, that Code Pink heckles Nancy Pelosi, that Lincoln squeaks through a challenge from her left, etc. etc.

It’s because contrary to the lies you hear on this site, Obama is a pro-business mainstream centrist who has not fulfilled most of the promises that even the slightly left of center voter hoped for. The Iraq war continues. More troops in Afghanistan. DATD still in place. Guantanamo still in place. Oil drilling, embraced. Cap and trade? Not done. PATRIOT act? Still there.

The list goes on and on.

All this cowtowing and trying to appease the extreme right wing- it’s pathetic. Just go in there and steamroll ‘em down, I say.

Know what? They’re loud and they’re American. I didn’t see you complaining when town hall protesters demanded their representatives stop the nonexistent “death panels.”

    @ ‘Me’

There ya go! Just steamroll America. Put the boot to the throat. Rule by decree. Why bother even having elections anymore? Just declare Obama the Philosopher King and let him rule for life. No need for a Congress, they can’t get anything done and even when they do it’s against the will of the people.

All Hail, King Obama! Make everybody take a new oath swearing allegiance to our new Leader.

    :D

Actually, Matt, I’m happy that they are finally loud and proud and saying what they really want to do to America. The more they talk the more folks are horrified.

Yes, yes, and yes. The man is into centralization of power, whether it’s “progressive”, “conservative”, or something else altogether. It’s not about right or left, it’s about consolidating federal power.

Yes, Rhayader, and when this phony financial reform bill gets signed into law, the gov’t will have control over 70% of the economy.

Rhayder, I completely agree. He’s all about consolidation of power.

    :D Seriously “Me”? Wow! …oookkkkkk…..

The people yelling at pelosi were actually members of the disability-rights group ADAPT. What they were yelling was “our homes, not nursing homes”. They even threw things at pelosi. They are REALLY ticked off at her for some legislation she’s thinking is spiffy. code pink were there with their banner up front, but the folks doing the yelling were actually ADAPT. pelosi was very surprised, seems. :D
