Say hello to Joe McGinnis, the author who moved next door to Sarah Palin so that he could write a critical book about her. Sarah Palin’s new neighbor is not endearing himself to the former governor.

author and Palin Joe McGinniss

The book that McGinniss is writing is called “Sarah Palin’s Year of Living Dangerously” which will be in a bookstore near you in 2011. The partisan author has already written a critical article about Palin’s promotion of an oil pipeline project last year.

Now the obsessed fellow is moving in to Wasilla Alaska to be very near the former governor while he stews with pen and paper on his tome. In fact he is so near that he will be able to see Sarah Palin from his house. Joe McGinnis rented the house directly next door to Palin!

Why the stalking is anyone’s guess although his own son says that he is romantically obsessed with her. We hope that he is kidding but whether or not that is true, from his vantage point McGinniss will be able to peer right into Sarah Palin’s bedroom window, watch her kids and grandchildren like Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window, sift through her trash, and perhaps eavesdrop electronically. Ah, what a profit-motivated author will do for a story!

He appears to have even embarrassed his publisher who was forced to issue a rather sheepish statement in response to media inquiries, which included this line: “Well regarded for his in-depth, up-close reporting, Mr. McGinniss will be highly respectful of his subject’s privacy as he investigates her public activities.”

The author and Palin will share a street, a fence, a mailman, and well, animosity. Palin is promising to build a high fence to protect her privacy from the curious eye of McGinniss. She used her Facebook page yesterday to make McGinnis’ undercover operation very public.

Said Palin, “Yes, that Joe McGinniss. Here he is (see photo above) – about 15 feet away on the neighbor’s rented deck overlooking my children’s play area and my kitchen window. Maybe we’ll welcome him with a homemade blueberry pie tomorrow so he’ll know how friendly Alaskans are.”

So much for Palin’s new neighbor partnering with her for the local bridge game. Reader thoughts on Joe McGinniss and opportunists like him attempting to cash in on Sarah Palin’s power?
