The Nevada Tea Party candidate, Scott Ashjian, will have a warrant out for his arrest in connection to a false check he wrote to a consulting firm. It is reported that the Clark County District Attorney’s Office has filed the necessary paperwork.

Jon Scott Ashjian started the official Tea Party in Nevada, though many in the tea party movement say he does not represent them. His role in the Harry Reid senate race is of significant interest, as polls suggest he might take away enough votes from the GOP candidate to give the election to Harry Reid with little over 36% of the vote.

Mr. Ashjian’s troubles are starting to mount. His contractor’s license was revoked just days ago. He is also being sued by the Independent American Party in Nevada who claim to truly represent the Tea Party movement. They are the traditionally libertarian presence in Nevada.

You might have expected to see Scott Ashjian down in Searchlight, Nevada, with the Tea Party Express. However, it became apparent that he was not welcome down there. The Tea Party Express even aired commercials in Nevada, dismissing the would be Senator from any involvement in their group.

Many in the Tea Party movement simply want change within the Republican Party, as opposed to starting a new party. The fear is that Scott Ashjian confuses that message.

More shake down to come. Things are sure to stay interesting in this Senate race.
