Iranian military personnel captured 15 British sailors in Iraqi waters today in an act of war. The British soldiers were conducting routine boarding missions of the cargo entering and leaving Iraq. The men, from the Type 22 frigate HMS Cornwall, were seized in the Shatt Al Arab waterway between Iran and Iraq while operating near Iraq.

Although this situation will probably resolve itself peacefully through diplomatic channels, this is a story that could develop very quickly. Iranian bravado and bluster will surely be their eventual downfall. One of these days they will miscalculate the western response as they continue their dangerous game of Russian roulette.
