Apparently, Bart Stupak keeps his word. Boy do I love a principled Democrat. Late last year Stupak had threatened to kill any health-care bill unless the House is given the opportunity to vote to extend the ban on taxpayer dollars for abortion — and Pelosi relented.

“We won because [the Democrats] need us. If they are going to dismiss us by taking the pen to that language, there will be hell to pay,” he said.

In the meantime, pro-choice feminists were irate. Here’s an exchange between Joy Behar and Maxine Waters:

“President Obama promised during his campaign that he would protect a woman’s right to choose. Why has he wussed out on that?” asks Behar.

“The blue dogs have too much power in the House of Representatives and the progressives are losing,” says Waters. “Women are going to have to go after some of these people. As for the President, the President wants a bill no matter what,” says Waters.

Then NARAL President Nancy Keenan chimes in:

“Let’s keep in mind who the real enemy is. The real enemy is these anti-choice politicians who wanted to hijack health-care reform.”

When Behar asks her panel what they think American women should do in response to this travesty, leftist blogger Julie Menin says, “They should write Bart Stupak.” To which Keenan adds:”You need to be calling every senator across this nation and say this is unacceptable. Unacceptable. Unacceptable.”

Guess no one called. Or if they did, Stupak has demonstrated that feminists can’t bully him the way they can bully Obama.
