Glenn Beck “outed” Republican gubernatorial candidate for Texas, Debra Medina, this morning on his “third most listened to show on talk radio”. No, I’m not talking about homosexuality. Glenn Beck has leveled the accusation that Debra Medina is a “9-11 Truther”. When Medina didn’t give Beck the answer he was looking for, he then said, “I think the people of America might think that might be a yes.” And so it begins. At this point it is moot if Medina is or is not a Truther. The 9-11 Truther mindset is now out there for everyone to see, and Beck can say he was the first to talk about it.
There are two “fringe issues” that have assailed the Conservative Movement. One of them is the aforementioned 9-11 Truther group, and the other would be those who do not believe Barack Obama is even a true American citizen, or as there website says, “the Birthers”.
I refer to these two issues as “fringe issues” simply because the Right has been lumped in with these folks, and the truth is, the Right isn’t at all about what these folks maintain. These two groups, to me, are fringe groups who espouse a mixture of paranoia, bad intel, extremely misplaced patriotism, and The Constitution, with a wisp of religious fanaticism, all rolled into something that would make no sense to anyone but themselves.
However, for the sake of clarity, I am giving the links to each of these groups’ websites, so you, as an intelligent reader, can see for yourselves what these people believe. Here and here. Nothing is as ignorant as relying on second-hand information regarding any issue that could possibly affect America. We should all demand answers and research each issue for ourselves. Period. To do any less is to be just another slave to whatever system you wish to abdicate your ability to reason for yourself to. Harsh? Indeed. But we are Americans, and not sheep. (Please do not insult my integrity or your intelligence by assuming I am endorsing either of these groups by posting their links. This is all about information, not implementation.)
I have taken the time to look into each of these two groups, and I have stated my analysis above.
Off the record? These are people chasing things that hold no interest for me. Much like the people who swear that the CIA or the Roman Catholic Church killed JFK because he was having an affair with Marilyn Monroe, I have nothing in common with that kind of thinking.
Joseph Farah, of World Net Daily, has written this piece about his stance on the Birther issue. I am linking this just for further information.
On a closing note, I find it odd that the Right would be associated with the 9-11 Truther group because that would put the Right at odds with George W. Bush. And isn’t it odd that a woman who is a Republican, and who is seeking the Governorship of Texas, would subscribe to such a concept at all? Furthermore, the whole Birther issue started with Democrats who had huge love for Hillary and were attempting to blindside Obama.
Interesting, isn’t it?

Damn right. The GOP MUST disavow these loons.
February 11th, 2010 at 5:54 pm
If Obama had never been born 911 never would of happened. he’d been planning it since his first flight from Honolulu to Indonesia.
February 11th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
Huh well I’m still rooting for Medina and she didn’t exactly say she taught it was an inside job.
February 11th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
@charles,
Please notice I said that Beck leveled the accusation against Medina. I do not know the woman and haven’t taken the time to research her, so…
For all Beck knows, she is a straight shooter who answered his question in the manner that made sense to her, but to Beck it looked like an opportunity to stir up his name and some controversy.
If you were to ask me if JFK was shot by two shooters, I would need to see ALL the evidence to determine my answer. If I said Yes or No, and wasn’t fully up-to-speed on this theory, then I would eventually be made to probably look like a complete idiot somewhere along the way.
Medina answered her way, and Beck looks like he is just being a jacka$$ about it. But, hey, what do I know? I’m just a guy behind a keyboard.

This country will NEVER run out of nuts in any category. We will also NEVER run out of people who want something for nothing. Common sense and guts is still a rare commodity. Can it prevail in the end? Still up for grabs.
February 11th, 2010 at 6:50 pm
I heard the interview with Medina. The only answeris”Of course it wasnt an inside job”.
Anyone anawering in any other form or fashion is being ignorantly expedient of flat out stupid and has no place in government.
Any fool with a computer whos studied any of the doctrines of the Muslim brotherhood, read OBLs letters to America and has even civilian access to the intelligence would know better.
The collaboration that would of had to go on between Clinton and both Bushs and Middle Eastern states could of never been covered up.
The moron shouldnt of tried to play the middle with that ridiculous answer
February 11th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Seemed to me that Beck sandbagged her, and she said that she wouldn’t fire people if they didn’t believe as she believed. If she doesn’t believe that 9/11 was an inside job, then she wouldn’t fire a staff member who did believe it.
Is it now that no one can have a job unless they believe everything the boss does?
I hope Medina does get to the run-off, because of the public lynching the MSM is now attempting to do. Thanks a lot, Glenn.
The blue ribbon for idiocy among gubernatorial candidates goes to Farouk Shami, who promises 100,000 new jobs in the next 2 years for Texas, or he’ll resign.
Population growth for the next two years would be about 600,000? So the number of added jobs would be 250,000? just due to normal population growth. If the number of jobs only increases by 100,000 or less, then the recession would be increasing in severity.
This is not a candidate who has problems with understanding how the economy works, it is a person lacking in basic arithmetic skills.
February 11th, 2010 at 7:14 pm
@micky,
I hear what you’re saying, but allow me to present this to you:
Some people say that there were two shooters that killed JFK. Now, I’ll be honest, until I see ALL the evidence, I cannot and will not give an answer or make an assumption. If I did, I guarantee it would come back later to haunt me.
Now, keeping this scenario in mind, I think Medina gave an answer that made sense to her, but Beck was looking for her to show some sort of “9-11 Truther” reaction to the question he asked, like he was hoping to snare her.
I understand your comments about how she should have answered. But she didn’t. She told the truth as it was relative to her, and not the truth as it is relative to you and me.
Is Medina a Truther? Time will tell. If she’s not and it can be proven she is not, Beck needs to publicly kiss her a$$ and apologize, because his snarky comments today on the air have killed this woman in her bid for Governor.
Time will tell. I don’t have a dog in this fight, as I reside in CT. I’m watching it because it is interesting to me. That’s it.
February 11th, 2010 at 7:14 pm
It seemed to me the Beck sandbagged her. He was rude to her before he got to his “truther” questions.
He asked her to describe herself, and she did, briefly, and did what any candidate with free air time will do, launched into a political speech about what’s wrong, and how she can fix it.
Then Beck took a pin to her balloon and said “I didn’t ask you about that. I asked you to describe yourself.” Huh? She repeated her basic bio, and launched into another mini-political speech.
I’ve never seen Beck quite so rude. His next question was about the truthers, so I don’t know, but it’s possible he was going to ask that question all along. Beck just seemed to me to be out of character this morning.
February 11th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
It doesnt matter Hanova, she answered like the typical expedient cabdidate and did nothing for the image of her patriotism and belief that as much as our leaders are a$$holes none of them wanted to kill 3000 Americans that day for any reason

Link to Interview- please listen for yourself if you already didn’t hear it:
http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleID=281474978042977
Enjoy. And if you are familiar with Glenn Beck, is he always this unfriendly?
February 11th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Oh sh*t. I just tried that link above and it tells me I don’t have permission. I was just fricking there, what do you mean I don’t have permission?
Anyhoos, I’m sure out there somewhere is the interview people can listen to.
February 11th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
Beck has the text and audio on his website, but you have to pay for the audio.
glennbeck.com
February 11th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
That’s probably why your audio linked evaporated…Beck can cash in many new customers wanting to listen to the audio
February 11th, 2010 at 8:02 pm
Here’s some of it on Youtube:

Maybe this was a scheme by Medina-Beck to increase her popularity – there has been a big increase in her fan base. Suddenly she’s a national Tea Party star.
February 11th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
Yeah but Donald, the JFK comparison doesnt really work because the left (mostly) has already determined who the shooter is, its you and
I and your pets, regardless of any mitigating evidence
February 11th, 2010 at 8:10 pm
I’ve heard the interview, shes an idiot.
If I was running for office, even with my questionable intellect, and was asked or presented with anything like that my first reaction would of been total support for our administrations and would of voiced my belief in their inability to concieve and carry out such an evil thing
February 11th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
Heres the audio, at least the beginning, its free

I wouldn’t like anyone telling me what is correct to think or incorrect.
To me, this is a case of freedom to think.
I believe in evolution, but I don’t think the government should mandate its teaching to anyone who has a differing opinion.
If you want to believe that life started on Earth in 4004 B.C. or that humanity is an experiment by aliens from Andromeda, fine. Who cares? What difference does it make, and why should anyone force me or my children to believe otherwise? What happened in the past can’t be changed and how I think about it is my personal belief or my religion.
So if anyone wants to believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy by the CIA or George Bush, as half of the rest of the world believes anyway, thanks to Oliver Stone, fine.
It doesn’t make any difference to today. It happened in the past.
It’s irrelevant. You could just as soon ask a question about which side you were favoring in the Civil War.
February 11th, 2010 at 8:55 pm
Before the interview, he tried to set it up by saying “We don’t know anything about her.” I have never heard this type of comment from a host before.
Then on the 9/11 question, which has nothing to do with anything going on in today’s world or this election, he was badgering her.
First she laughed it off, then he repeated the question again and again, changed the wording to imply her staff were also guilty of incorrect think…
February 11th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
“So if anyone wants to believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy by the CIA or George Bush, as half of the rest of the world believes anyway, thanks to Oliver Stone, fine.”
yeah, but if you’re running as a candidate, Glenn Beck, the people, have just as much right to ask and determine shes an idiot for the answer she gave.
In my opinion, any American who belives 911 was an inside job among the most powerful men in the world who run/ran this country in collaboration for financial gain should pack his sht and leave because its obviously not America anymore.
there was plenty of dereliction of duty, complacenct and ignorance. But to say our government killed 3000 innocents just for whatever asinine reason, Jews in the building etc, puts evil in another realm.
Theres such overwhelming evidence as to whoe responsibleit ridiculous to even begin to entertain the thought.
Sick MFs
February 11th, 2010 at 9:19 pm
Its very relevant Hananova, we cant have irresposible sht being taught to our kids in the future or having this kinda crap put in their heads today.
It only takes a few nuts who seriously belive thiskinda crap to come up with another Jones town or McVeigh.
You cant tell folks what to say, but have some balls and at least try to set the record straight using the facts we are all so privy to today.
February 11th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
Donald:
I’m not going against you,but I’m making my stance on this clear. I know you weren’t try to go against her, because you didn’t.
Micky:
First off I must say it’s being a while since I’ve been hear debating you. Medina shouldn’t of said what she said, but this issue isn’t important for the office she’s running for and her campaign is far better than both Hutchinson and Perry’s. So I’m thinking she still has a shot. Now I know Perry will most likely win,but if she can do damage control I think she can steal second from Hutchinson which would still be a major accomplishment.
February 11th, 2010 at 9:26 pm
To be perfectly honest I think she answered the question fine. I mean I would of said no,but it’s OK to say what she said.
February 12th, 2010 at 3:28 am
charles – the problem is that her answer was weak and inarticulate. She left a huge amount of room for anyone to interpret it as she is a truther. Now she’s saying she was caught of guard. Well, she wants to be Governor of Texas, she ought to be a little better on her feet than that.
Or else, she IS a truther, in which case she needs to go hang out with Charlie Sheen and Rosie O’Donnell and quit trying to have a political career.
