Here is the ‘Miss Me Yet’ billboard that is causing an internet sensation. See the George Bush picture here, learn who made it, and tell us if your Barack Obama hangover is enough to wish the last president back into office.

Miss Me Yet Billboard

The huge sign has been shrouded in mystery for weeks but Right Pundits can reveal that the creator is a group of local business interests who are tired of Obama policies emanating from Washington DC. It stands proudly near the town of Wyoming, Minnesota along the Interstate 35 freeway.

The Miss Me Yet Bush billboard has endeared itself to the local community while becoming an impromptu resting stop for weary travelers. Bouquets of hand-picked wildflowers are appearing at its feet while the passing motorists who do not stop have taken to flashing their headlights and honking approvingly. Crop dusting aircraft from adjacent farms dip their wings regularly in a sign of respect to the former commander in chief. A game has developed in which children hug one of the sign posts while attempting to touch their hands together on the other side, and at least one local grammar school class has planned a class field trip as part of their history lesson.

Miss me Yet? What a difference a year makes! It was only 12 months ago that a new president was sworn into office amid a national chorus of hope and change. George Bush could not leave fast enough. Now a year later all the luster of the new presidency has worn off and the people are feeling like this emperor has no clothes.

But before we wax too nostalgic for the last guy, a reminder that President Bush was no friend of conservatives. He spent like a drunken sailor on massive new domestic entitlement programs, did nothing about the easy money housing bubble, entered a costly war of (in hindsight) choice, and mushroomed the deficit during an economic boom when that’s the time for treasuries to build a war chest. He was Obama-Light.

George Bush lost me in 2005 when he supported a special session of congress in Washington DC to debate Terri Schiavo, when congress should have been doing no harm at recess. It was the signal to me that Bush has disdain for the cardinal principle of conservatism: government governs best is the one which governs least, particularly at the federal level. I will never forgive Bush for ruining the conservative brand in 8 long years by pretending that he was conservative.

So when a smiling George Bush billboard asks “miss me yet” there is only one answer from conservatives. No way. Granted, the fact that Obama has justifiably the worst approval ratings of any president in history after one year in office does give one pause for reflection. However going from worse back to bad would be a fool’s path.
