Upon presenting his newest National Budget proposal, Barack Obama probably felt pretty good about it. Still flush with the “atta boys” garnered from his cheerleaders in reference to his “tough guy talk” to the GOP last week, Obama was riding high on the self-perpetrated notion that people thought he knew what he was doing as President. His court subjects closest to him only confirmed this. With the people eating out of his hand again, what better time than now to show them his budget idea? This was a sure thing! Ahhhh, it’s good to be the King.

Yet, somewhere, in the distance, news came to his ears that all was not so well in New Camelot. Apparently his sycophants, his sworn followers, his serfs, were shying away from him and his regency, as though he, the King!, had some sort of leprosy. How can this be? Yes, yes, he had suffered a minor defeat in Massachusetts, fine, whatever. All good Kings suffer a setback now and again, and besides, all the hoopla about this Scott Brown chap would die down eventually. Pfff! Patience is a good King’s best ally. Surely his faithful were not thrown off track by this small detraction from his royal ideals and rulings.

Or were they?

Democrats are seeing that being a Democrat in America 2010 is not as wonderful as it was for the past, oh, 8 years or so. The people of America are making too much noise about their dislike for “business as usual” in DC. A “business as usual” that seems to emanate directly from all holders of a (D) behind their names. Americans are realizing that all this spending under Bush came through a Democrat-controlled Congress (January 2007), and a Congress that Obama himself was then a member of. The worm is turning. Being a Democrat in Congress and in virtually any public office is not as swell as it once was.

And the Democrats, in their predictable sense of self-preservation, have decided it is Obama himself who has done this to them. Such a delicious turn of events. Nothing says American Politics like watching a party deny one of their own, especially when that one happens to hold the office of President. Not even the best team of melodramatic soap opera writers could put forth such human drama and betrayal. Democrats are now speaking against Obama’s policies. They are forced to. It is all about public perception. If that (D) at the end of their names is in any way associated with Barack Obama…oh my. This simply won’t do.

Some displeased and possibly nervous Democrats:
Sen. Blanche (I’m not related to Abe) Lincoln-Arkansas
Sen Arlen (Wait, am I a Democrat now? I lose track) Specter- Pennsylvania
Sen. Kirsten (I’m more centrist than Hillary) Gillibrand-New York
Sen. Barbara (Call me Senator) Boxer-California
Rep. Suzanne (I’m a Freshman but I want to be heard) Kosmas-Florida
and Sen. (Clark) Kent Conrad-North Dakota

More to follow, I am sure.

I cannot blame the Democrats for doing this. Obama has done more to damage the Democrat brand than even Jimmy Carter did. Obama’s view of being a Democrat isn’t. He’s more of the progressive sort. While it is true the Democratic Party seated him on his throne, Obama is showing himself to be a King with no loyalties to anyone but himself. This is his show. The Democrats are realizing this and are fleeing like rats from a burning ship. But America is not so quick to forget their previous alliances, and come November there will be a political upheaval in America.

Obama has failed to be a faithful King. Obama has failed to be the Pied Piper of the DNC. This is American Politics at its finest.
