According to Fox News online, NASA has fired Lisa Nowak. No other details are available at this time.

**Update**
Evidently, Lisa Nowak is the first astronaut to be ‘publicly” fired from NASA.
Also, it appears that one trigger to this whole sad episode is that her love interest and fellow astronaut Mr. Oefelein, broke up with her just about the time that she broke up with her husband. Also disturbing is some steamy emails from his new grilfriend, Capt. Shipman that were sent to him while he was aboard the Shuttle.
It appears to me that NASA needs to do some serious reworking of their behavior policies. Astronauts are adults, but they also represent the United States and need to behave accordingly.

Evidently, neighbors of Nowak talked about how fast the press disappeared once it was announced that Nicole Simpson had died. Nowak is lucky that the public scrutiny and press frenzy wasn’t worse.

Say…self-disgraced Astronaut-turned-diaper-capacity-tester Lisa Nowak just might be an example of smart people doing dumb things (rumor has it that we’re all these “human” things). I’ll even go out on a limb and say she was probably even educated.
