With the 2010 elections coming up, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has declared herself in “campaign mode” rather then in her normal cram-down-our-throats legislative mode. All, apparently, in an effort to protect her 81 seat majority in the House of Representatives. Read more below, see photos and a video.
Many talking heads, both on the right and left, are forecasting re-election vulnerabilities for House Democrats who have been left exposed for supporting the porkulus stimulus (and other bloated spending projects), liberal healthcare “reform”, and the always questionable climate change bills. House Dems who represent Republican districts are considered to be the most at-risk of being replaced in the 2010 election. Losing in any significant numbers could seriously jeopardize her ability to push through her leftist agenda so is it any wonder that Nancy Pelosi says she’s now “in campaign mode”?
Under Princess Pelosi, the House was able to pass both a radical healthcare reform bill and climate bill legislation. These “victories” are not so sweet because the Senate has thankfully stripped many of the core liberal tenets – pushed by the Dems’ far left base – from healthcare legislation, such as the public option. The Senate has also rejected the possibility of passing an utterly feckless climate-change bill this year as well.
The (R)’s, looking for any open door to run through these days, jumped on Pelosi’s “I’m in campaign mode” statement, saying:
“If passing a vastly unpopular healthcare takeover is Nancy Pelosi’s idea of being an effective campaigner, then 2010 is going to be a really tough year for Democrats,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain said. “If she is, in fact, ready to campaign, we would happily pay for the airfare to fly her out to one of our targeted districts in the new year. She has been such a blessing for Republicans’ election prospects over the past several months that it will be hard to say goodbye to 2009.”
Clearly, next year the (D)’s will be playing election defense. Their goal must be to maintain a strong majority to continue their march toward a socialist progressive America. If Nancy Pelosi believes that she, being “in campaign mode”, is the answer to maintaining their majority cushion, she is sadly mistaken. Tick Tock Nan.

The sad thing about cap and trade is, it was an invention of the Republicans, it solved the acid rain crisis a generation ago, and if the Republicans were in power and proposed it to reduce CO2 emissions, you’d be praising it to the stars. This show how utterly partisan you are, and how little you care about doing the right thing for America. It is also the reason why you are doomed to fail. Wishes fall in your own dishes.

Kate,
Great article. Every Dem that won office in 06 and 08 cringed when Pelosi made that statement.
Remember, in 06 Rahm ran Democrats in moderate R areas with 2 themes:
1. We will get out of Iraq
2. We will be more fiscally conservative than the Republicans
Fast forward to today and we are still in Iraq and the Democrat controlled congress has pulled off the neat trick of making the R contolled congress look like fiscal hawks in retrospect. Remember how unhappy we were with deficits of $250B? Remember, specifically how unhappy Conrad was with the deficit in 06 before the election? Now? Not so much.
It appears as though a $1.3 to $1.5T deficit is now OK. Nancy runs the House and she is now personally responsible for this mess along with Obama. I would say Reid but he is so stupid that I doubt he has a clue as to what is really happening. He is toast in 10. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
Again, Kate – great article.

I forgot to give my bottom line! The mid-terms are going to be a watershed for the conservative Repubican movement. My prediction is +57 in the House and +7 in the Senate.

what if the repubs don’t win a watershed and instead we find out they simply leveraged the media against the american people as it now appears they are doing?

Brian,
I have absolutely no earthly idea on how to interpret your sentence.
Try taking 2 blues in the morning 1 red at night.

I see Brian is in full tin foil cap mode again.
Ahh yes ! The repubs are controlling the media ?
“It appears” ?
More of your drummed up crap you’ll never be able to prove in any fashion ?
Wheres the smoking gun showing that anyone has leveraged the media besides liberals ?
Libs dont do guns so I guess we’d have to keep an eye out for a smoking butthole.

Hey Kloless
Cap and trade much like the bailouts Bush imposed at the end of his term were targeted at very small sectors and issues and were not being used like this administration to bring on astronomically monsterous policies that go 20 years into our future screwing up everything.

Hey Micky, did you get away with that Kloless without being moderated?

Looks like it.
Nothing but that one post here on my end

Good. I don’t have to refer to Klo-less as Frau Blucher any more.

LookslikeKlo has been pretty active. With all the Nativity scenes off the street she probably has nothing better to do.
