Rhayader, reportedly, many blacks are annoyed that all his mistresses and his wife are white. While one can argue this is just a matter of personal choice, those in the community would say this is an example of a successful black man turning his back on his people.
Of course, Tiger is part-Asian, so one can argue that he’s also turning his back on Asians.
I don’t buy this line of reasoning, but I don’t find it completely invalid either. A huge percentage of rich black athletes have white wives, and I can see some black people finding that troublesome, though I don’t think that means they are “sell-outs”.

OK, thanks for at least providing a little context Ignatius. As you can probably tell, I absolutely don’t buy that line of thinking. Falling in love — or merely in lust — is personal. I’m not sure about you guys, but for me those sorts of impulses occur at a level much more fundamental than the philosophical level on which I would contemplate issues like race.
Love and sex are instinctual, not conscious choices. With that in mind, I don’t see how you can call it an act of betrayal — except, of course, for the actual victims who were betrayed here, Tiger’s wife and kids. But again, race has very little to do with the reality of that betrayal.

I have to agree with Micky. While it’s an individual choice, we don’t live in a vacuum. The society we live in “colors” our decisions. White women are the ultimate status symbol in many minority communities, and I have to believe that plays a role in a lot of how people choose their sex partners.
