President Barack Obama’s Copenhagen summit decision has changed a bit. Instead of attending the climate summit in the middle, he plans to be there at the end, sending signals to the rest of the world that he’ll be there to push forward some sort of Climate treaty with developing nations.

Barack Obama 377

Originally Obama had said that he would only attend the Copenhagen Climate Summit on December 9th on his way to Sweden to accept the Nobel Peace Prize. Now, it appears that Obama, who many feel is crucial to a global climate treaty, will be there at the end with other heads of state at the critical time of the summit.

Obama has already vowed that the U.S. will cut emissions by 17% below 2005 levels by 2020. Following in his steps, other nations set goals of carbon emission cuts as well including China. There has been much speculation about what joining a climate treaty in Copenhagen would mean for the sovereignty of the United States.

Obama’s Copenhagen summit plan changes have everything to do with the current climategate scandal that is rocking the foundation of the global warming movement. It’s imperative that Obama and the other socialist types hammer home a deal before the climate scandal escalates further.

On a personal note, Obama has heard the criticism of his socialist buddies in Europe who feel that for a deal to be achieved that they can live with, meaning a deal in which the U.S. shoulders the majority of the cost, Obama needs to be there at the end. He always caves to public pressure. Here and abroad.

The original Obama Copenhagen summit plans left us with an ounce of hope that the United States might not get sucked into some world climate treaty that will end up costing us in dollars and possibly sovereignty. Now, with Obama changing his plans and going at the end, all bets are off.
