Just a year ago, in prepared remarks in Colorado, then Presidential candidate Barack Obama dismissed John McCain’s call for a commission on the U.S. crashing economy:

“Just today, Senator McCain offered up the oldest Washington stunt in the book – you pass the buck to a commission to study the problem. But here’s the thing – this isn’t 9/11. We know how we got into this mess. What we need now is leadership that gets us out. I’ll provide it, John McCain won’t, and that’s the choice for the American people in this election.”

You can watch a video of this speech below.

Now, President Obama offered us the same Washington stunt yesterday – he called for a “Job Summit” on unemployment. After 9 months of intense labor Obama gave birth of the idea of a “job summit” ?!? Really?

Summits and Brainstorming sessions are usually done before you spend billions of dollars in a wrong way. In January, Obama and friends were in a hurry to get through their porkulous bill that did little to stop the unemployment. There was no time for summits then – it was spending time. Whew-hew! Now, the country is struggling with 10.2 unemployment and the President will host banquet in the White House to chat on economy. Very comforting idea.

After hitting a dead end in the popularity of his Healthcare reform in August, President Obama proposed a new Medicare Commission. Where did I hear this before? I remember – the second Presidential debate when John McCain said:

“My friends, what we have to do with Medicare is have a commission, have the smartest people in America come together, come up with recommendations, and then, like the base-closing commission idea we had, then we should have Congress vote up or down.”

Obama’s campaign dismissed the commission proposal as an evidence of lack of ideas. Campaign’s chickens are coming home to roost for the President. Obama’s Commissions and Summits are just prove that President is out of ideas.

Save us the commissions, Mr. President, and show us some leadership.
