The Islamic Republic of Iran will charge 3 US hikers who were taken into custody in July with espionage says the Iranian Judiciary. The three Americans strayed across the border of Iraq into Iran and were picked up for crossing the Iranian border illegally. The three Berkley graduates families insist that they were just hiking and accidently crossed the border.
Shane Michael Bauer, Joshua Felix Fattal, and Sarah Emily Shourd were arrested on July 31 for crossing our newfound friend of Iran’s border and will be charged with spying. Iranian President Mahmoud Amadinejad says that any country would punish someone who crossed its border illegally:
“In all countries, crossing borders would have a very heavy sentence, according to the law,” he told a news conference in Istanbul before the start of a summit of the 57-state Organisation of the Islamic Conference. “Hopefully, they will have an appropriate answer in the court and convince the judge that they did not have any intention of crossing the border illegally,” Ahmadinejad added.
Mahmoud’s right about the fact that all countries would have a very heavy sentence for illegal border crossers; that is except for the United States. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, while at the Berlin Wall ceremonies, that Iran has no evidence that espionage was taking place. She urged the Iranians strongly to exercise compassion and release the three US hikers immediately. Yeah Hillary, that ought to do it.
Not to sound insensitive, but can I ask the obvious question? Why on God’s green earth would you be hiking in Iraq? You’re just sitting around one day and all of a sudden it sounds like a good idea to hike in the middle of a war zone surrounded by hostile countries? Just asking.
Mahmoud Amadinejad, filled with compassion and leniency himself, said that he hopes that the Iranian court will take a look at the case of the 3 US hikers with maximum leniency. Anybody else think that Iran’s thinking bargaining chip in reference to the nuclear negotiations? Just a thought.

So they are Berserkly graduates? That explains why they were stupid enough to get lost and go into Iran.
Oh well, we could use a good cleansing of the gene pool.

“Why on God’s green earth would you be hiking in Iraq?”
Thank you Shannon. It was the only thing on my mind as I read the story. Who the hell hikes through Iraq? What, Yosemite not good enough?

What does this little accident remind me off? Something with Carter and and a couple other things like that.

Oh wait the Iranian hostage crisis. I almost forgot about that. Carter was a wimp on foreign policy and failed miserable every time he tried to save them. And when Reagan took office on the first day they let him go, because they were scared to death of Reagan. Just shows it’s better to be feared than looked at as a wimp by these people.

I agree with you on that. They must of being pretty stupid. Granted I feel these people shouldn’t have to do this. Ultimately I think we should give Iran a choice. We drop a bomb on you kill 30,000 people. Or you give us these 3 people back and change the rules.

Can we just kill this freak and get our people back? It’s time we give Iran a choice. It’s time we tell them either you stop your desire to seek a Nuclear weapon or we will begin to bomb the hell out of you. We will even go Nuclear. The UN can’t do anything and it’s time we leave the UN and solve problems by ourselves.
