Could it be that a little common sense has prevailed concerning Fort Hood? Independent and former Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Joe Lieberman says the Fort Hood shootings were the work of a “home grown” terrorist. Lieberman made the statement on Fox News Sunday citing initial reports about the shooter.
In most cases so far, where the media or politicians are concerned, folks have chosen to take the politically correct route and blame PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or some other mental ailment for the massacre at Fort Hood, Texas.
Senator Joe Lieberman has decided to call it what it really is, terrorism. Nadal Malik Hasan may have been a Major in the Army, he may have been a psychiatrist charged with treating PTSD in soldiers back from battle; but the facts remain, he was a Muslim who ascribed to a radical brand of the religion.
More information comes out daily about Hasan and his connections to radical Islam. It was just reported yesterday that he attended a mosque at the same time and under the same teaching as two of the 9/11 hijackers. Yes, that 9/11.
I for one am glad to see that Lieberman thinks the Fort Hood shootings were an act of terrorism. It is what it is, no amount of sugar coating or cover up will make it anything else. The President was quick to tell us not to jump to conclusions; Napalitano is worried about a backlash against Muslims. Even the top military bureaucrats are not willing to claim that Hasan’s Islamic background was the major factor in the shootings.
Lieberman is the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee Chairman and plans to go forward with an investigation into the Fort Hood attacks. Lieberman said Hasan was a “self radicalized home-grown terrorist”. Three cheers for Joe Lieberman; just another reason for liberals to hate the guy.

yes, hes home grown and self styled. He was just too efficient for ptsd frankly. descriptions of a calm shooter just clearly dont’ fit. In one odd way its a bit like the texas tower massacre, so cold and calculating. It does amaze me how some of our politicians are able to cut through the rhetoric to a pretty accurate assessment given how wild the first takes are. John McCain is pretty good at summing up a situation pretty accurately in a way that isn’t always bluntly partisan.

McCain,
Could you start a new thread titled Open Talk Religion ? I would like to continue my discussion with Muslim Yazan . The other thread is getting too big and not easy for me to navigate with my low/weak computer memory.
Also Micky has questions on how to collect his prize.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Well, the guy had to choose between following orders and fight Muslims, or follow the Koran which teaches that fighting alongside non-Muslims against Muslims is a sure road to hell. But, yeah, people’s beliefs are a private matter…
November 8th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
In 1999 or 2000 maybe, I was called to an Army recruiting center in my area… I was pretty sure I wasnt cut out for that but I decided to go anyway to see what they would tell me. There was a white Catholic and a Puerto Rican soldier.
They talked to me at length about joining the Army and tried to convince me. I told them I wanted to be a lawyer — so they said I could get money from the Army for Law School. I was somewhat interested then I popped the question — if I joined up would I be able to choose where I was deployed to because I feared there might eventually be a war against Iraq so I told them I didnt want to fight other Muslim or Arab people. I mean at the time i was thinking that I wouldnt have minded going to Korea or something maybe possibly if i decided to join up… but definitely didnt even want the chance of having to be in a non-Muslim army fighting against Muslims!
So they told me honestly that I would not be able to choose and could possibly be sent anywhere. So whatever even small inkling of interest I might have had in getting a chance to have a career and getting education payed for and being a tough army dude pretty much evaporated at that point.
Anyway I just dont think a Muslim should enter the Army in the first place. Its not worth it.
This guy should have thought of all that. Though perhaps when he originally entered the Army way back when he wasnt a real religous guy and wasnt thinking about those kinda things and perhaps also it was a time when America was not officially at war with Muslim countries or in the full sense at least. Because remember that there were those punishing sanctions of Iraq all those years that hurt the entire population pretty bad and that is a way of economic warfare. It always seemed like things were on the verge of physical war. It seemed all that time like it was an unfinished war.
Man I am so glad I made the right decision, thank God.
This guy really did Islam and the Muslims and himself a huge disfavor. He could have just went AWOL or concientious objector (if thats how you spell it) and served some jail time or something. To me thats a worthy cause to go to jail for. And I know some of you are saying well what about all that money they spent on him? Well with all that education he had couldnt they have given him some sort of deal where he could find a job in the civilian sector and pay them back on installments or something? I mean the man would probably be making six figures a year, God knows best — so that couple of hundred thousand dollars could have possibly been payed back in a few years.
I dont think he would have tripped out like that if they had just let him out — yes I know some are saying it was an act of terrorism because he may have said “Allahu Akbar” according to some reports — But I think the man just got tripped and also he may have been listening to some people who had a deviant interpretation of Islam in the past. That was a volatile mix. So now he was totally upset and at his ends wit over some things in his personal life and at the same time he may have been convinced by his listening to and reading of Bin Laden-Like sympathizers that to do something like that is a good deed!
So finally it took that last straw to cause the whole thing to spin out of control.
Perhaps there can be some grace period now where Muslims who are currently in the armed forces can be allowed to leave them due to concientious objection.
Of course as a Muslim guy I believe that Islam and the Muslims have great benefit to give to this society… but I dont think they should be going into the military here.

Micky,
to answer your question from the other thread, i never actually received my prize, i just told mccain to give it to life2orphans.org via paypal.
i think you just have to give him a paypal account number.
i think you can get one for free.
November 8th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
Lisab
I dont have a bank account for good but personal reasons.
I just want to know if he’ll put it on my wifes account or a friends but I cant get any responses to my E mails
============================================
This guy is living proof that Islam leaves huge opportunities for deviation from true worship of Islam. Whatever that may be.
Theres been a lot of Christians who have killed using their warped versions of Christianity as their justification. Islam seems to hold more opportunity for these kind of religious deviations than any other religion.
Especially these days.
Hes a terrorist.
He planned it.
He gave away all his personal belongings right before the day.
Made his contemptuous feelings towards our country known all over the internet.
New damn well what the deal was when he enlisted.
Used our military to advance his personal goals and the when asked to serve pitched a fit.
Used two handguns he bought just days before the act that were able to hold more ammo than any other.
Heres Napolitano issuing a homeland security report warning the whole country about conservatives like myself saying I might be a domestic terrorist while this guy goes around throwing up red flags all over the place in front of military and security personell and nobody does a damn thing about it, because they’re worried about being nailed for profiling.
Take it anyway you want but this is the kind of crap that we just didnt see happening during the Bush years.
In the last ten months theres been splinter and sleeper cells getting busted left and right along with two acts of terror on our military
I miss George.

Micky,
I collected my prize money and spent it and gave 1/2 to my wife.
Opening up a paypal account is free. Just go to paypal.com. You can link it to your checking account.
You sent an invoice to mccain. They pay you within a day or 2. You then transfer it to your bank account, which takes 1-2 days.
Paypal takes a small cut. I got $98.60 or $96.80, I forgot which, for my $100 prize. It was a bit of a hassle figuring out how to invoice. But it was not THAT tough.
Whay caused me problems was I already had an old pay pal account…well, let’s skip that.
just try it and if you get stuck ASK. paypal also has a phone number you can call for support-unfortunately the phone number is not a toll free number.
having a paypal acct will come in handy for you in many ways.
one down side is they start spamming your email but you can always use an email that you get spam at anyway.
i have multiple email addresses. if your yahoo email gets too much spam, open a hotmail acct, if that gets too much spam open a gmail acct, etc etc.
November 8th, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Micky,
I forgot exactly what was required to open the paypal acct. I know they require a valid email acct., not sure if a bank acct was required or a credit card. go to http://www.paypal.com and find out for yourself.
if your wife has a checking acct, i am confident that mccain would allow an invoice from her paypal acct.
using the paypal must make it easier for business purposes for mccain.
November 8th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Micky,
basically your wife can get a papal account, and then use hers
btw, i sent mccain an email a week ago and did not get an answer either and normally he is very good about it, so he must be busy

This was a suicide bombing without the vest. He went to the place he knew would cause the most destruction and “set himself off” just like any other suicide bomber would have done in Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan. Only the Army medics saved his sorry a$$ and he is still alive. An infantry sergeant at Fort Hood told The Times that Major Hasan had been well know for having an “agenda” as he counseled soldiers returning from action. He added: “Put whatever politically correct whitewash on this you like, but there is no escaping this was a Muslim terrorist attack on US soil.”
November 8th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
11 That is about how I see it too Roscoe. He saw 2 options- 1)go to Afghanistan, which his faith beliefs would not allow or 2) commit Jihad which his faith told him would be rewarded with 2) virgins or so and a guaranteed ticket to heaven or paradise.
We can debate whether he correctly interpreted Islam but based on the information we have I agree with your conclusion.
In his mind he was killing soldiers that would be eventually killing Muslims. He saw himself as a Muslim first and an American second.
November 8th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
The Obama administration and the media are trying to spin it as NOT being a terrorist attack. They are MORE concerned with a possible backlash against Muslims ( a valid concern ).

this tragedy was PREVENTABLE
this man should have been kicked out of the army

Fort Hood gunman had told US military colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut
Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the gunman who killed 13 at America’s Fort Hood military base, once gave a lecture to other doctors in which he said non-believers should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats.
November 8th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
Thanks guys.
I’m doing some crap with the courts right now for something that happened 20 years ago so I cant have a bank account for a while. But I have friends who will accept it for me or my wife will open an account.
The last time I wanted my 100 bucks given to the troops but McCain said something about him not being able to do it. I have no idea if they got it or not.
“They are MORE concerned with a possible backlash against Muslims ( a valid concern )”
Or covering their butts.
November 8th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
Now I know you may not want to hear this.
And this is not a defense of the man or what he did.
But now a lot of people on this site are making odd claims that this man said such and such and this and that a million years ago in a class or to some other guy or something.
Even if we feel confident from witness reports that the man did this terrible action and he is guilty we should not attribute to anyone that which they did not say. Even if they are a criminal or a bad person.
So to avoid that you should provide accurate sources or recordings of his speech with proof that that is his voice or some such convincing proofs from people who have been proven to have met or known the man and are known for their truthfulness and not just heresay or random statements that the people just throw around on the internet.
Because it is a fact that there are people out there in waste dumps of the internet who want to play up this incident to incite h@tred against Muslims and contempt for their Religion as much as possible. People who take advantage of the ignorance and excitement and confusion to spread lies and rumors. And even a person who is evil and did some evil acts can be lied upon and slandered.
I believe there may be statements being attributed to this man — however evil his final action was — that he may have never said. And these statements are being spread to cause the people to hate Muslims and attribute this to the Religion of Islam and not just the particular individual in the case.
This is called propaganda… And remember not everyone who claims to have ever heard something from another person is always a true witness… there are people in this world who routinely bear false witness against others.
So verify your information before you keep spreading rumors about what people said or rumors about certain incidents etc…
November 8th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
what i said came from a newspaper in the UK. it is the job of their reporters to verify the story. i provided the link.post 14 was a complete copy and paste from the article linked to in post 13. i would have to re- read the article to see if it said how many witnesses were at this meeting but we already have multiple sources that suggest he hekd a radical view of islam ( personally, i’m not sure that the radical view is not in fact what islam DOES teach). i am more than willing to listen to your views on islam and NOT automatically paint all muslims with a broad brush.
as we continue our cordial and i hope respectful dialogue, perhaps we can make a better conclusion.
either Islam teaches these things or it does not. either islam itself is radical and evil or some small percentage of muslims have misinterpreted the faith.
that is what we are discussing. i have studied islam, certainly not to the extent that YOU have.
did you read my initial link islam 101 ? is what is said there true or false or part true with some falsehood.
i think different muslims have different beliefs just as catholics and protestants have different beliefs. both use almost the same Bible yet come to different conclusions
November 9th, 2009 at 12:01 am
just because it is in newspaper does NOT make it true. i too would advise some caution in terms of jumping to conclusions but i also condemn “political correctness”

Yazan, Could you please comment on the doctrine or interpretation technique of abrogation ?
Is this TRUE or NOT ?
http://www.answering-islam.org/Authors/Farooq_Ibrahim/abrogation.htm
November 9th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Yazan.
Theres been enough people who witnessed the same statements made by Hasan to which we know its not as contemptuous as you think.
Most of the goods are in on this guy from credible sources such as his on line postings.
Unless you’re willing to believe that someone else used his account to make those statements ? Or that its some concerted effort on the part of those who always used to tease him ?
I suppose the many people that heard him yelling “Allah Akbar” right before he shot them were under the impression that he wanted them to know he was a Muslim before he killed them ?

So, we have a muslim soldier that has murdered his fellow soldiers and yelled allahu akbar as he did his killing. We have witnesses to his disagreement with our government’s war with two muslim nations. We have students who attended school with him that stated he had “justified suicide bombing” and spewed “anti-American propaganda “. We have CIA intelligence that he was trying to contact al-Queda and possibly was in contact with two of the 9-11 terrorists. We know he attempted to avoid being assigned to Afghanistan . . . . . and STILL some readers are asking why he did this??? I don’t have to know anything else, he hated our guts . . . . pure and simple. What will we do from this point forward? How do we tell which are the “good” muslims and which ones will become terrorists? Our political correctness won’t allow us to prejudge ANYONE especially by what they think or proclaim. I guess some are comfortable with a dozen or so people being slaughtered every now and then. It’s worth it to be politically correct . . . . . or am I jumping to conclusions Yazan Muslim?
November 9th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
We have CIA intelligence that he was trying to contact al-Queda and possibly was in contact with two of the 9-11 terrorists.
Does anyone doubt Obama was made aware of this intelligence at SOME POINT ? at the very LEAST, he was made aware after the fact.
WHY HAS HE FAILED TO CALL THIS WHAT IT WAS , A TERRORIST ATTACK ???
November 9th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
AND WHY IS HIS DHS DIRECTOR MORE CONCERNED WITH MUSLIM BACKLASH THAN OUR NATIONAL SECURITY ???
These are questions Obama needs to be asked
OVER and OVER and OVER
WE DEMAND ANSWERS, MR. PRESIDENT !!!
